Is there a penalty for returning rental car early?

Does anyone know what happens if you return a rental car early? I need a car for my 10 WDW vacation but it's cheaper to rent two weeks at the weekly rate than one week at the weekly rate plus three days added on at the daily rate. Would the rental company charge an early return penalty or rerate my rental if I returned a two week rental on day 10? Has anyone ever done this with success? Thanks for any help you can give me.

When my hubby rented a one-way car to drive to B'ham and was told he had a 24-hour rental. He stated he would be turning it in at 10:00 the next morning, (only about 16 hours) did that matter?? She specifically stated the only time an early turn-in would matter is if it was a weekly rental and the renter turned it in more than 24 hours early. Then the rate would convert to a daily rate. This was Alamo.

So yes it is a problem.

Carol, thanks for the quick reply. I guess renting for two weeks is not the answer for my 10 day stay.

Rental car companies can and do charge if you don't keep the car as long as you originally signed up for. In your case they would probably charge you for one week and 3 extra days which is probably more then your "2 week" quote.
