Is there a PBS in every state?

I have heard that our governor is eliminating NJN (New Jersey's PBS), since he believes that it is a waste of money as South Jersey gets Pennsylvania's PBS (WHYY) and North Jersey gets New York's PBS. :sad2:

North Carolina has two, the UNC Center for Public Television which operates all over the state and another that's just Charlotte area.

In my cable package, I get Seattle's and Detroit's PBS. They are great additions (I'm in Canada). Seattle is close by, but I wonder why we get Detroit's too. They are different from each other most of the time.

Just wondering.

Every state, or every major city?

Every state, yes.

Probably every major city, and maybe more than one station in some cities.

There are 356 PBS TV stations in the U.S.

Nielson rating service only recognizes 210 TV markets (a TV market may incorporate several cities), so there are in reality 146 cities that can receive more than one PBS station.
