Upon checking out on our last day we plan to leave our luggage in the CBR's holding area and then heading to DTD for the day. Our flight does not depart until 615pm. Can it be arranged so that we can take the ME bus from DTD directly to the airport with our luggage meeting us there?

Also, while in DTD...what are the can't miss thing there? My daughter is doing the BBB two days prior and the last time we were there we went to Lego store and ate at WPs but this was back in 2011 so I don't remember that much from DTD.

No, you can't. DME does not service Downtown Disney, only the resorts. You would have to return to CBR to catch the bus.

Are you flying Internationally? DME used to have a check-in at DTD for international flights but I do not know if they are still doing that.

If you are flying domestic do you know there are airlines that allow you to check your luggage in the morning of your departure at Bell Services? You don't need to carry it yourself to the airport.

Just so you know your ME time would be around 3PM from CBR.

Nope. You have to take DME from the resort you are booked at. Most airlines allow you to check your bags right at the resort the day of departure. The RAC (remote airline checkin) counter opens at 5am, closes around 1ish. You can store your carry on bags with Bell Sercices for the day. Plan on heading back to the resort no less than 90 mins before your scheduled DME pick up time.

There was a test a while back where Port Orleans Guests could access DME from DTD,but that test has ended.:)

Not sure OP can use RAC since her flight leaves 5 hours after they close. OP could check the bags at bell services though.

That's absolutely not a problem.

The Resort Airline Check-in (RAC) process must be completed at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure time, during the hours when RAC is open, but the flight can be any time on the same calendar day. (In DME's early years, the flight could not be later than 12 hours after using RAC, but that's no longer the case.)

I have to imagine it is a real logistical problem for them to offer DME from DTD. Otherwise, it's one of those things that makes a lot of sense. For so many people, they don't really have enough time to reasonably do a park on thier departure date, yet do not want to just stay at their resort until the DME pickup time. That's especially true during the winter, if the pool isn't an option. I think it would be quite a popular option if it were offered at DTD. They would have to build a bell services facility and a bus stop, but could potentially get a nice revenue bump as people shop and eat until their pickup.

Why a bell services facility? Guests wouldn't be able to have larger bags with them. If they wanted to check carry on bags, they would have to do it at their resort. I doubt you would see all that many people using DME from DTD. Some, yes. A lot? Probably not.

I was thinking just to hold the carry-on bags until your pickup, since you wouldn't want to walk around DTD with that stuff. We usually take advantage of RAC for the large/checked luggage - so I wasn't even taking into consideration those not able to use RAC. How would they get their full luggage to DTD? . Just not something that would work out logistically. I'm smacking myself as I usually think things through better than that. I do believe however, that if that hurdle could be worked out somehow (extremely unlikely, I admit), I think it would be fairly popular. But if you have to check your stuff back at your resort's bell services, and therefore have to return there anyway...no need for a pickup at DTD.

For the sake of discussion....I would like to see Disney offer DME from resorts other than the one you're staying at. It would be terrific if you could book a late breakfast at say, Kona Cafe. You could check your bags with RAC, leave your resort and head to the Polynesian. Eat a leisurely meal and then take the bus back to MCO. You could have the ability to leave your carry on bag in a short term Bell Services area.
Or, you could even head to a park...but with it being that much closer to the resort you're leaving from, you could possibly get in an addtl few hours. That's just not an option if you have to plan on buses getting you back to your resort on time.
I wouldn't even mind if Disney charged for this service. I imagine they could make a ton of money just by charging $15, plus any gratuity to Bell Services, for a family to do this. So much easier getting back to BW from either Epcot or DHS than having to go back to, say, POR. Waiting for buses makes it almost impossible to leave your resort unless you have hours to kill...like 5 or 6.

I generally like the idea - mostly because it's very similar to the DTD idea in that we're basically just trying to avoid being anchored to your resort on your departure day. But we run into the same hurdles. Where would this short-term bell services be for your carry-ons? If you went to a park, would it be near the park entrance? All other resorts obviously already have one, but how do we get our stuff there? You'd have to go to the resort first, then to the park, eating up a lot of time. Can you get on a WDW bus with any type of luggage - even small carry-on bags? Or will you have to take a taxi? Or perhaps the additional charge could be to transfer your carry-on stuff from your resort to whatever other resort (or DTD!) you set up for your DME pickup.
