Is there a Magic Kingdom DVD?

I thought I read somewhere on these boards that there is a DVD out in WDW that gave some great footage of MK, much better than the usual vacation planners. We were just in WDW but unfortunately I had little to no time to shop .

When I was there in June, I bought a dvd that might be the one you're thinking off. I believe it is just called 'Magic Kingdom' (can't check now because I'm not at home). It looks very similar to the one called 'Where the Magic Lives' that came out .. last year, maybe? (Which I also have ..*grin*.)

Footage-wise, I'd say there's more MK than your usual planning video because it focuses on the MK exclusively. The main portion of it has the different characters taking you around a day in the MK. Not really with a story .. just a day in the life. I noticed a lot of the footage I had seen before, either in the Where Magic Lives dvd or in planning videos. There was some new stuff though.

There are extra features, like a pop-up video type track with Disney trivia, and a trip on the Railroad and Main Street streetcars that have a (limited) interactive camera angle feature. Those were unique.

I'm not sure I'd say they had 'great' footage of the MK, but it was definitely more 'thorough' than the usual planners, and as an MK junkie, I enjoyed it.

Hmmm .. I can't say for sure since I can't look at it right now. I'll check when I get home, but I have a feeling it was $19.99.

I'll update this when I get home, unless someone else finds out before then.

It is a neat dvd though. The 'day in the life' part runs all the way from park open to the end of the fireworks (obviously they don't show everything in real time though! lol)

When do they start sending out the planning videos for 2005? Do they actually wait until Jan or Feb of 2005, or do they figure that anyone ordering a planning video in December will be planning for 2005 and start sending them then?

I'd avoid Main Street Megastore.

They are just people who go to the parks, buy stuff and then double the price. You can get pretty much everything they sell by calling WDW directly and pay normal retail price plus shipping as opposed to waiting a month from Main Street Megastore (that's how long they usually take) and paying double the retail price plus shipping.

I just sent an email to the WDW mail order link that Esmeralda posted to inquire about the price and availability.

I'd sure like to have those in my collection. Good for when you need a WDW "fix".

Sorry about the lateness of my update.. when I got home last night, I couldn't find the dvd case anywhere! Sneaky case.

Anyway, my guess about the MK dvd was close - I paid $19.95 for it this past June. The all 4 parks one, which I bought in Sept '03, was $19.95 as well. I scanned a picture of the back and front of the cases so you know what you're looking for (and you can read the backs for more info, although the pic is a little fuzzy). They are the perfect thing for a good Disney fix, IMHO.

As for the updated planning videos, I think they used to come out in the late fall, but I'm not really sure about that. I believe they used to coincide with the start of the new advertising campaigns.
