Is there a bldg at OKW super close (super short walking distance) to the Hospitality Bldg?

We do not like large sprawled out resorts. Our favorite resort is actually French Quarter but now that we are new DVC members we want to try out a one bedroom. We have somebody with a mobility issue in our group and she will have a scooter. We want to be in a bldg as close as possible to the hospitality bldg, main pool, food, boats to Disney Springs etc... and we will not have a car.

Near Hospitality is a booking category at OKW. The closest buildings would be 11 to 14, but if you're driving down, I'd recommend 23 to 26, as the parking is better. 11 to 14 are just across the parking lot from Hospitality, 23 to 26 are a short walk across a bridge. There are advantages to both locations, 23 to 26 is easy access to the first bus stop on the route, and even though you'd need to ride through the rest of the resort before heading to a park, it may be the best choice for loading the scooter, as the actual Hospitality House bus stop is the last stop before heading to the parks, and sometimes all the scooter slots are already taken. If you can not book "Near Hospitality" then request bldgs 62 to 64, they are the next closest, followed by 16, 27 and 28. Be sure to request ground floor, since you will have a scooter, as there are no elevators at OKW, except for bldgs 62 to 64, which were built a few years after the resort opened.

The scooter entrance for the Disney Springs boat is kind of hidden. You have to enter the main pool area, and take a path that is kind of hidden to get to the dock. I'd have at least one member of your party wait in the regular boat area (stairs) to inform the skipper you have a scooter to load.

If you can't get the HH category, buildings 27 and 28 are pretty good. With a scooter, I wouldn't advise the Miller Road area. That's the last bus stop, and by then there may be no availability for scooters, if 2 scooters are already on, and you may have to wait for the next bus. I hate to say that, because I love the Miller road area, but I'm a scooter-user now, and I saw that happen (fortunately I got on the bus at an earlier stop).

I am disabled and use a scooter. I cannot walk more than a couple of steps. My DH and I like staying in the Congress Park area of SSR. It is so quick to scooter over to Disney Springs where there are so many restaurant options. Last trip we never even set foot in the hospitality house. We got a text that our room was ready and didn't have to go check in.

While not included in the 'Near Hospitality House' category, Buildings 62, 63, 64, 16, and 15 are as close as 23-26 (which are included in that category). 62-64 are also the only buildings that have elevators at OKW.

Enjoy! :)

It really depends on when you are traveling. Our daughter uses a wheelchair and can’t get out for transfer.
Miller Road is our favorite location and we usually stay there twice a year for long trips.
We have very seldom ended up having to wait for a bus because either all the spots are full or the bus is too full. We are usually not going to the park for park opening though - usually more mid morning.
The last stop at OKW is Hospitality House; we have been on the bus when it was too full for any guests in wheelchairs or ECVs to get on there, even during midday when it was not very busy.

The first stop is Peninsular; if you are trying to get on the bus there at a busy time for people coming back to OKW from a park, it will sometimes be too full to get on. When we are returning to OKW, we often get off at Peninsular because Miller’s Road is a less than 10 minute walk and we can clear out the bus for other guests.

Worst case scenario is that you miss the first bus and the driver will radio for another bus.

Thanks for that-Miller's Road is our favorite location also. Pre-my need for a scooter, we used to request the Miller's Road area. Seeing this the last time we were there, made me think that our Miller's Road days were done. Hearing from you makes me look forward to requesting it again!

We were on Millers Road the one trip I had to rent a scooter. I never had a problem getting on the bus.
