Ok my lovely parents decided to give me the birthday present of joining them in Palm springs the first part of April. They are driving there and renting a very nice house and flying me and my daughter and son in law for 5 days (work and school schedules) from Albuquerque. Husband wants to know where Palm springs is exactly so I look it up and notice it's awful close to Anaheim- did the google maps and grabbed on to the idea of taking daughter and son in law to Disney one day. I'm feeling a bit like I'm using them (my parents) although the trip is a birthday present. I was going to try to fly the daughter out for our trip in June but we're owing taxes this year and it would be a lot of money. Plus my son in law (who is an angel :littleangel:) has never been to Disneyland. We would only really have 3 full days together in Palm springs with flight schedules and I know Disney will be crazy busy as it will be the week after Easter but the kids could do the volunteer thing and get a free day (I could upgrade them to a park hopper) and we could just get up and drive early and stay late. It's open 'till midnight those days I think. They're kids and it would be no problem for me. My mom thinks the traffic will be really bad between Palm springs and Anaheim but I think if we're driving early enough it shouldn't be too bad. Definitely would want to get there at gate opening. I also want to see the electrical parade as it won't be there this summer....I'm aware about the ROA being drained and no fantasmic.
I want to go to Disneyland with my daughter! :car:

Well, I guess "awfully close" is all relative, but you are looking at a 2 hour drive (approx) without traffic. With traffic, anyone's guess.

It's not what I would call nearby, but if the desire to go to DL with your daughter is strong enough, four (or more hours) on the road roundtrip is a lot close than OR, right? :goodvibes

It is relative, I think - when we drive over from Phoenix area, we always consider Palm Springs "almost there" lol - it usually takes about 1 and a half to two hours from PS into Anaheim - note, we do not travel at rush hour (usually drive through between 9 and 11 am).

Yes, I wouldn't consider it close either but obviously way closer than oregon! We live about an hour and a half west of Palm Springs and then it take us about an hour and 15 minutes to get to DLR so I would guess 2.5 hours? I drive to orange county twice a week and the traffic isn't bad if i leave at 9:30am. If i leave a little earlier I hit traffic in Corona. I've also left at 6am in order to get to OC by 8 and it usually takes me 1.5 hours - assuming there's not a big accident or something. Avoid Friday afternoon/evenings at all costs. Sounds like a fun trip. Have fun and hope that helped a little!
