is the WDW very merry christmas Parade live

The parade is usually taped the first week in December. It's definitely not live.

You can see the crowds aren't as great as they would be today. It is also "patched" for a better word, where things look sort of choppy when it is shown today.

It's an ugly day here in Orlando. The area is under a tornado watch. It looks nothing like the day they taped the parade.

Wow were there the day it was being taped and I can't imagine the crowds being any worse! We just wanted to ride the rides but ended up leaving due to the mess!

I had always thought it was live. I didn't find out it wasn't until I did the CP.

That's because for many years, parts of it WERE "live".
Parts were pre-recorded, but the hosts and parade units in MK (for the most part) were performing live in real-time.

They'd even super on-screen the current temperature "live at WDW" and Regis, et al, would talk about how warm it was in WDW "right now" compared to his home in NYC.

With weather always a concern (and now that the show is really [sadly] more about the "acts" than the actual "parade") they save a lot of headaches by pre-recording the whole show.

Since there is no difference in quality between digital videotape and "live", it makes a whole lot of since from the production end to edit it to tape and give everyone at home a "perfect" show rather than "chance" a live broadcast.

(Can you say, "wardrobe malfunction?"

Once we got past Main Street and the castle, we had no problems at all.

2) I could never figure this one out.
3) Macy's can do it live every year.
4) But, with all the money and resources of WDW-ABC, they don't.
5) Oh, well.
