Is the water level turned down on Splash in the cooler months?

Hello DISers!

DD and I (and my parents) will be at the christmas party on Nov 10th. I know the weather that time of year can go either way (we were there last Nov during "the heat wave"). My DD wants to do splash after dark so she can see the castle lit up as we go down the hill. As awesome as that sounds, I fear getting wet and then walking around the party wet and cold. Now, if the weather is like last year, I have no worries about doing splash at night. But if it's a little cooler.... that's what worries me I am actually considering ponchos to help with the splash factor. Any advice?

the splash will be the same as they require a certain level of water to operate the ride, they might turn off the water canons that spray you at the end and the ones that spray the people watching from the bridge

The most water that you get in the face at the bottom of the big drop (in the covered area) comes from spray nozzles.
They can turn them off.

It is interesting to note that Disney has a patent on the ride "logs" with the specifications that they are ANTI-splash!

The most water that ends up on guests comes from means other than the logs hitting water.

Robo- that is interesting! When we rode splash last Nov, DD and i were in the front row and DH was behind DD. He got soaked and we thought it was bc my DD was too short to Take all the water- went over her head and got hubby. So did he get hit with a cannon?

If you are leery of getting wet during colder months, might I suggest Big Thunder Mountain during the firewoks? We did that last summer and it was amazing! And you'll stay dry.

BTMRR will be closed while we are there. I absolutely love splash and will do it no matter what!! I'm taking ponchos and hoping for the best!! As the time gets closer i may pull the mom card and switch out one of our FPs and do it earlier. But i really do like the idea of doing it at night.

It will be open during the christmas party, right?

It has felt this way in the past to me.....less wet on cold rainy days.....

BUT.....

I have spent alot of time watching people drop into the Briar patch (yes , I am slightly sadistic)....and much of the wet factor comes from the wake created from the boat in front or behind you.

Once or twice I have gotten a good "Splash" on the slow parts as a wave came from behind from a boat with a "heavier crew". This happens alot after the coaster section.

Next time you are there....watch the wave action at the bottom of the drop...you can see it coming for certain boats.....and you know they are going to get soaked.

1. So did he get hit with a cannon?

1. The "water cannons" are outside as YOUR log goes around the curve (ready to head up the lift hill that takes you to the first indoor scenes... bullfrogs fishing, rabbit families, etc.) and you see OTHER logs heading down the last drop.
The cannons send up huge globs of water (timed to match the OTHER logs hitting the bottom of the big drop) and those globs of water can SOAK whomever is in a slow-moving log under where they land. (Yes, they can turn off the cannons, if they want to.)

2. It usually is.
