We love going to WDW restaurants, but let's face it -- a dollar isn't worth as much at WDW. That large Coke that I buy at my neighborhood McD's costs roughly 50% more at the McD kiosk between Adventureland and Frontierland.
I seldom have a meal anywhere in WDW that would be worth its price off property, and exceptions to that rule tend to be on the lower end of the price scale -- such as the great sandwiches at Roaring Forks, or some of the kids' TS meals (which look good enough for adults). This is probably due to competition, and there is little of that at WDW. I think the Guide may be holding WDW restaurants to the same standards as similarly priced restaurants off property -- and on that basis, WDW sometimes comes up short.
But taking the kids to WCC is part of the magic of a WDW vacation for us, and I accept the fact that I am paying an inflated price for the pleasure. So I think the Guide is generally being fair. Instead of ignoring the Guide, I would challenge Disney to improve the quality-to-price ratio of its restaurants.
