Is the Star Wars fireworks a can't miss show?

When I heard a few days ago that there will be the SW fireworks show in January- it has now put a question into my HS day.
I was planning to leave the park before Fantasmic (saw it last trip) and head to 'Ohana for dinner. We have an 8:30 ADR.
But now with the SW show- I am torn if we should stay in HS for it and look for another day to fit an 'Ohana dinner in.
I think the SW show is scheduled for 7:45 on the day we will be there.

We are staying at the Poly so I just have to see what other day works best for dinner and then if I can find an ADR for it.

Is the show amazing? My kids are not big into SW or fireworks for that matter (I always make them watch Wishes a few times per trip so they kind of get firework'ed out!).
They are 9 and will be 11 on this trip.

Thanks!

Okay, serious response. It's a really cool fireworks show. But, I would choose 'Ohana over the show. That's just me.

It is quite good. We had a terrible spot for it, and my one biggest regret was not ponying up the $250 for us all to go to the dessert party and get the reserved viewing.

It's the most technologically advanced fireworks show disney has. It's the first with surround sound, they do a really nice job with close up effects like lasers, lights in trees, using the surround to highlight things happening around you. It has a nice collection of 180 degree pyro. A generous amount of fireworks gets used... The projection show is kind of highlights of the story of all the movies so you don't really need to know the movies or even like them to just enjoy the show..

Is it a must see? If you like star wars I would say yes.. If you like projection, things happening around you and fireworks then probably. If you are trying to squeeze it in or fantasmic is a family can't miss favorite, I would say skip. It's a great show, but not a buy hoppers and find another night to go see it great show.

We got to see the fireworks show they had early in the year, and that was for sure a can't miss. Seeing the videos of this, it wouldn't be a must (we're not as big on projection as we are fireworks). The fireworks were so amazing.

I saw it from the Reserved Viewing Section and did enjoy the show, but I do think guests that are Star Wars fans are more likely to enjoy the show more than non-Star Wars fans. I say this mostly because the show depends heavily on the projections and if you don't know who the characters are, the images won't mean much to you. As mentioned, it's mostly a projection, laser, fire show with some fireworks. So if you're going expecting something like Wishes, it's not that at all. I'd be inclined to say it's closer to IllumiNations in that respect. In general, I'm in the camp that thinks it's worth seeing things at least once so you can decide for yourself if it's something you liked. No one knows how long SWaGS will be presented, so it's possible that it might not be there when you go back.

Having the benefit of seeing the show already, my family would probably opt for a "wait and see" approach. We'd search for an ADR for 'Ohana on another day and if we got one, then we'd go see SWaGS. However, if we couldn't find a replacement ADR, we'd probably skip SWaGS and go to 'Ohana.

We did the dessert party in October. I'm not a big Star Wars fan, and I still thought it was great. I would say if you are a big fan, it would be a don't miss. Make sure you have a place to see the projections.

DS9 and I just saw this last Saturday and, yes, it was really, really cool. I'd choose this over O'hana any day especially since, if staying at Poly, you can always order the O'hana dinner through room service.

It is a do not miss for me but it isn't for everyone. If you like Star Wars then it is a do not miss, if you don't care for Star Wars I would say it is still enjoyable but could be missed.

It's amazing. We were blown away at this show! Can't wait to see it again this summer

Nothing at WDW is a "can't miss." Not one single thing. You could be there for a month and could not do everything, so you have to make choices about what you will and won't do. I think the "How much do you love Star Wars" question is the way to answer this.

I recommend the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular show.

There are several videos on Youtube to give you an idea of the Projection/Fireworks show.

Seeing it in person is a different experience than viewing it from a YT video.

Are you big Star Wars fans? Then it's probably a not miss over Ohana. (As mentioned, you can order the Ohana dinner into your room which I highly recommend over bothering to find a reservation). The previous SW fireworks show they did before this current version was perhaps the best fireworks show WDW has done and qualified as a must see for everyone IMO. It really didn't rely on being a Star Wars fan as much as this show although I'm sure anyone could enjoy it too. This current show is more projections and lasers supplemented with fireworks.

But I don't consider Ohana a not to be missed thing and would pretty much always choose fireworks.

The old star wars fireworks show was can't miss.

I am not fond of the videos of the recent one.

The one I saw earlier this year was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. Tons more fireworks, with a lot less of the background video. It was wonderful.

The show they have now uses like 40 percent less fireworks IMO.

Ah I love that I experienced the old version of it.

If you just wanted to see the fireworks part if the show could you view anywhere in HS?

Awesome fireworks show especially if you're a Star Wars fan. We are not big fans of O'hana anymore so that would be a no-brainer for us;)
