Having just looked over the Menu...which seems quite limiting, and I never even saw a children's menu on it, is it worth it...I mean arethe princesses there for a nice long time? Since the menu doesn't look wonderful, I would love to know about the characters. I will still do it for my daughter, but if the princess visit isn't worth it I would like to look into another option.

We were there for lunch last year- but I recently read someone's post about dinner there. First when they escort you in- you immediately get to meet and take a picture with one of the princesses (ours was Ariel- I think the poster had Belle). Then the princesses come around in a rotation. Our kids are a bit shy so they stay to say hi, say a few words, sign autographs books, take picture and a hug goodbye. We had Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Cinderella as well as Ariel at the beginning. They didn't seem rushed and were all very nice. I know some of the food doesn't sound all that terrific- but they have a great cold food/salad bar that I thought was really very good- and the food was pretty good as well. It's also a cute little restaurant- you can probably see pics on allears.net. I think if you have a little girl that likes the princesses- this should be ok. (just a quite side note- the lunch menu is slightly different so you can always chose that if you think it has better offerings!)

This was my review from May. This dinner was a surprise for my DD5.

The Castle in Norway was beautiful!! We were seated in less than 2 mins. We walk in and she gets her picture taken with Ariel- she is so excited that she saw Ariel.. We get seated right next to the door where the princesses come out of so when Princess Aurora came out I thought my DD was going to fall out of her chair she was so surprised. Then came Belle, Jasmine and finally Mulan. Each of the prnicesses took their time signing her autograph page and taking pictures. They were wonderful!!! I have never seen her eyes light up the way they did that night. The fireworks after dinner (dinner was at 7:50pm) were spectacular and they started just as we walked out from dinner the view was amazing. That was the most magical night of our trip. As we were leaving my DD5 grabbed my hand and brought me down to her, gave me a hug and kiss and said "you did good mom" that was such a special moment.

Okay on to the food because I did not know what to expect.. Our waitress was wonderful. We told her we had no idea what to order and she explained everything to us and also told us we could substitue.. so I ordered the poached cod with cheddar mashed potatoes instead of horseradish potatoes. My DH ordered the Pasta with marina sauce instead of the Pesto sauce (very picky eater) and DD5 ordered Pizza which she barly touched because she was just so excited. We started out with the appitizer buffet which was not that great. It did have salad, cheeses, lunch meat, cold fish, and bread I know it was a Norway dinner but I was hoping the buffet would be a little bit on the traditional American side. The food was okay but I would do this dinner again for the Character experience especially if you have children who love princesses.
Service gets an A+
Characters get an A+
Food gets a B

The only reason that we are not going on our next trip is because we are going to have lunch at the castle with the Princesses. I can only hope it is just as magical.

We went for lunch in November. We felt like the food was bland. The desserts were delicious though.

We felt the character interaction was just okay. They came, signed and posed quickly. The only one who really interacted was Esmerelda (who was beautiful!). We've had wonderful interaction at Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare. And frankly, we'd go back to either of those places again. We felt like once was enough for Akershus.

But everyone has different experiences and likes different things.

Yes. Yes. Yes. It is a wonderful experience and the food was good. I am a picky eater (I have the Lap-Band) and I still got a good meal. My DD loved the princesses.
