Is the media out to sink Disney?

I am living dangerously. I am doing two things the media has warned me against:

1) I booked a DCL vacation on the Magic ( aka the "sick ship") Like a contagious virus brought on board by passengers during cold and flu season is the cruise lines' fault. DCL is doing everything in their power to make it right!

2) We took our kids to see TREASURE PLANET yesterday (big screen version). We LOVED it!!! DS, age 10, said it was the best Disney movie he had ever seen. While I would not say that, it contained all of the elements I think make up a great family Disney film: gorgeous animation, a solid story with a good message, and at least one new song that enhances the story. We laughed, cried, and were in suspense at appropriate times. What is not to like?

Our family liked Treasure Planet too!

I think a lot of people have it out for Disney and I'm not sure why. The other day I was reading through some non-Disney message boards. There was a thread that started with something the character baby bear said on sesame street. The poster decided that bb was really giving out hidden sexual and homosexual messages. Many answered the post that that was why they didn't have a tv. (judgement before knowing the facts) And then it went on to blaming Disney for being pro-homosexual because they own ABC and that station has shows with gay themes. They also went on to say that Disney promotes anti-family values because they have gay day at the park.

oh boy...my head was spinning with the closed-mindness of that group! I couldn't even jump in to defend Disney or the gays or even sesame street because I would have been flamed royally...like others who tried to do so. A lot of those people just wanted to believe what they believed and they kept tossing God into the mix. I think I'll stay away from there for a while.

   Seriously???? I mean, it's Sesame Street for cripes sake??

In our house we rarely turn on the news.

Seaseme Street characters having overt messages in them is a little ridiculous. There will always be someone to find fault with everything.

lodgelady I think it is great that your family enjoyed the new Disney movie. My DD can't wait to see it!:)

Thanks for the review and have fun on your trip. Hopefully, DCL will have the mess cleaned up after the holidays.

This reminds me of the Simpsons when they are in Brazil and see the overtly sexual "kids TV" show and Marge says "at least Bert and Ernie leave it to your imagination!";)
I have students who tell me about all the sex scenes that are hidden in Disney films...you can't reason with these people once they get an idea in their heads.
We also loved Treasure Planet and wish it had done better...People gave it a decent review, but in truth it hasn't been that heavily promoted. I have a friend with an 8 year old son and he isn't even interested in seeing it, while my 4 year old son and both DDs (7 and 10) loved it.
