Is the heat in the mid, of Aug. as bad as a lot of Thread is saying? Is it very humid? Is it as bizzy as in July?

Hey Daisy,

The heat is pretty intense in August but nothing you can't deal with. My family & I always go in August and we have a great time. Here's a few tips that we go by. We usually hit a water park or the resort pool in the mid afternoon when it's the hottest. The parks are still open pretty late so you can go to a theme park in the cooler evening and morning hours. Water, water, water is a must. If you can take it easy, no commando style touring and look for attractions that have air condition or are at least cool. In MK the hall of presidents is a great place to sit and cool off. POC is in a dark underground cellar, its another place to keep cool.

Enjoy

We were there the last 2 weeks of Aug last summer and the crowds were great except Labour Day weekend but it was HOT!! AK was the worst park but the others you are in and out of a/c all day so it is bearable.

We took our first trip for our honeymoon in August 99 and we were pleasantly surprised that it was nowhere near as bad as everyone said it would be. Not because it wasn't hot, or humid, but because Disney is set up so well that you rarely spend too much time in the blazing sun. Most of the lines are sheltered and in many cases there is even air conditioning blasting out onto outdoor lines and seating areas. I worried about sunburn and didn't have any problems there, either. I agree that AK is the worst for the heat, so I'd wear your coolest clothing, a hat and sunglasses those days. Also someone advised me not to wear denim shorts b/c they are too hot -- try to stick to lighter weight fabrics. Drink lots of water, get an early start in the morning, take a swim or a nap in the afternoons and take advantage of the evening hours -- to me there is nothing better than strolling around at night on a warm summer evening. We are going again this August. Have fun!

It is every bit as bad as everyone says - and I'm used to it!

its still pretty toasty down there in august and yes it is going to be humid just remember to drink lots of water! :sunny:

Our last trip was in August 2004 and it was hot but because the crowds weren't too bad there wasn't alot of waiting and messing around in huge crowds. And like the others said you are in and out of a/c all day so about the time you get hot again you are on another ride. We really enjoyed going to WDW in August because it was a great way to wind down the summer and then it was a pleasant surprise to see such light crowds (minus the week-ends). Of course, that was before free dining.
