I am considering purchasing tickets for the Not so scary Halloween Party for our October stay, but wanted some other input first since I have never been at this time of year. Is it worth the money? I have a seven and four year old and I am pretty sure they would enjoy it. Do you have to purchase tickets for the adults also, or only the kids? Are the rides in operation during these hours? Do they trick or treat?

Please help me out here........

I went last year with my wife and two daughters, ages 4 and 7 at the time. We had such a good time we are going back again this year on 10/23. There is a special parade and fireworks show that is awesome. We went to the MK as early as 4pm to avoid the crowds when the park closes at 7pm. We all wore costumes and there is trick or treating. If you go try to get everyone to wear costumes. Also remember the night you go the park is only open to those with tickets for that night so the lines aren't bad at all.

I totally think it's worth it!! :thumbsup2 Here's my MNSSHP Party Central post that was the sticky last year! I think it covers everything you wanted to know! :)

(ps...I use to be a Moderator here on TPAS until it was all changed around last winter.I could only be a Mod on one board. The Creative DISign Board actually started from a post here on TPAS! )

The dates and ticket prices for MNSSHP are for 2006.

The INFORMATION is from last year,2005 but things basically stay the same each year. I update the information after the first party and finds out what's new for that year.

TIPS
jackolanterns.jpg

The first MNSSHP I attended was in 1995 when DS Erich was 2 years old. There were only 3 PARTIES at that time! We've been almost every year since then only missing the Halloween festivities once or twice. We missed last year due to my mothers illness. :( On my various times I've traveled with a toddler,a Senior citizen in an ECV,a large group, just me and my son, Erich,to now with my DH,Joe,and my DSS,Jonathan. So I've learned a few things along the way that I'd like to share with my fellow DISers.

****Baloo's Top Ten Tips****

1.Except for HALLOWEEN NIGHT do not worry about crowds at MNSSHP. There are a limited amount of tickets sold for this event. Disney is very closed mouth about the actual attendance but the rides are very doable. Fantasyland gets a little crowded earlier in the evening but thins out as the night goes on and little ones wear out! I've never waited more than 15 mins in a ride line at on a party night. The Mts are practically WALK ONS! We've ridden Splash Mt. 3 times in a row without leaving our log!

2.The second parade is less crowded.

3.The best trick or treating is in Toontown! There was an area called Alice and the Mad Hatter's Treat Party. Our bags were LOADED after strolling down this path! We weighed our bags and between Erich,Joe and I we had 15 POUNDS of treats!!!

4.Catch some of the bands that perform throughout the MK lands during the night. And don't be shy to get up and shake, shake, shake your bones like a skinny old skeleton or howl like a werewolf!!

5.Try and see "the special guest" that takes over Tinkers Bell's flight before the fireworks begins. The BEST viewing area is on the bridge to Tomorrowland.

6. I'm not sure he's still there but in Liberty Square in front of the Liberty Bell about 10 min.s before the parade begins "Mr. Knickerbocker" tells the story of the Headless Horseman. When he finishes his tale, the Headless Horseman begins his gallop through the MK. When the Horseman has ridden the entire parade route, the parade begins!

7. Don't feel silly if you're a grown up and want to dress up! Wearing a costume, is part of the Halloween fun!

8. Make sure your costumes are COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

9.Take time to really LOOK at all the wonderful Halloween decorations throughout the MK especially while strolling down Main Street. You never know where you might see a giant spider crawling atop of a building.Corn stalks and jack o' lanterns and over sized treat bags set the autumn mood.

10.My biggest tip is the day of the party have a light schedule, take a nap or have some "down time" the afternoon of the party! I can't stress this enough ,especially if you have little ones or Seniors traveling with you! Erich (Jon wasn't able to go) was 11 lthe last year we attended and we still did this.Even if he didn't actually sleep he watched t.v. and rested...Joe and I slept! LOL! You want to be able to stay as late as possible because the later it gets the more the crowd thins out.It seems a lot of people start exiting after the fireworks which is shortly after the first parade.

Have a SPOOKTACULAR good time at MNSSHP 2005!!!

It's definitely worth it. Our family attended last year. The kids do get to trick or treat. Lots of rides were open. (I'm thinking that not all rides were open, but a lot were.) The admission includes a free family photo. The parade was a "special" parade with a headless horseman. We really loved how they transformed the park for Halloween.

YES!

I have been to 3 in past years - but havent been for about 5-ish! IM SO EXCITED TO GO AGAIN! I cant wait! :woohoo:

Yes - worth it. :thumbsup2

Definatley go - last october I was unsure if we should go or not, and I waited until a couple of hours before to buy the tickets at the hotel and I'm so glad we decided to go. We had so much fun! DD's loved Stitch's dance party! I wish we could go back again this year!!

Even if you don’t enjoy the great “not so spooky” atmosphere; music, decoration, fireworks, etc… I believe it’s worth it because you’ll get more “rides per $” because the crowds will be light from 4pm until the party is over. This was true for us anyway. And the two times we’ve attended the party it has been sold out.

DH and I have been twice and loved it! I think you definitely get your money's worth...free trick or treat candy, free family photo, parade, fireworks, and park admission during a hard ticket only event which is limited to a certain number of people. You can't go wrong. :thumbsup2

I would make one suggestion though. If you can try going on a night in the middle of the week instead of a weekend and nothing terribly close to Halloween. One year we went on a Friday night when tix were sold out and another year on a Thursday night earlier in the month. There was quite a difference in crowds.

Either way you still won't find long waits for any attraction. During those five hours you may be able to see more things than you would on an entire busy day during peak season.

We have been the last two years with our kids, now 11 and 13, and can not beleive what a great time they have had. I am suprising them this year, but they really look forward to this event. One of the best values if you are going to WDW for a day.
