Is the ECV rental at Magic Kingdom inside the park?

Or is it located outside, and if so, where exactly is it located? If the park opens at 9am (830am for onsite guests), what time should we get there to have a good shot of getting one before they're all gone? Also, how long does it take to rent one? Is it like renting a car, or is it as simple as a swipe of the magic band?

It is inside the gates toward the right just before you go under the rail bridge. It takes about 5 minutes to rent if there is no line. If you are there first thing you should get an ECV. Make sure you ask to reserve it for later (no charge) if you plan to leave and come back to the same park later in the day. There is a deposit put on your credit card and you do need your receipt to show when you return it. Save your receipt if you go to another park of DS as you won't have to pay again that day. Good luck!

Unless something has changed its the same line for ECV, wheelchairs and strollers. The time depends on how many guests are ahead of you.

Guests are typically allowed to enter and stay on Main St prior to park opening, Shop. Rent strollers, ECV and wheelchairs. I think bakery is also open.

Posters have found all scooters rented prior to park opening, not everyday

Just get there early, the parks have been having lighter crowds the past two days we have been here and they sold out before park opening at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Hollywood Studios is more problematic, as they check that you are a resort guest before you can reach where the rentals are, which means you have little to no chance of getting an ECV. Dh has his and I have an offsire one, but we have been trying to pay attention to let people know.

We are going to Magic Kingdom today, not sure if we are making rope drop though, so not sure if we will be able to tell you where they check if you are a resort guest.
