Okay,

So hubby and I were scheduled to arrive in Orlando on the 9th of January with reservations at the WL. At the last minute, like when I was getting ready to purchase airfare, hubby says,

"Couldn't we go a few days earlier?"

I said "Of COURSE!!"

We booked air for the 5th returning the 17th and needed 4 more nights of hotel. We were booked rack rate at the WL and didn't really want to spend another $1000.00 for those four nights. We've had good luck with hotwire in other cities and decided to try orlando. Well they had a 3 1/2 star hotel near DTD for $44.00 per night. It was the Doubletree Club. I thought fine, but in reading reviews I see that people say it's dirty, noisy, not close to anything, and doesn't have a lot of amenities. And they say the beds are REALLY uncomfortable. That is my biggest concern. I can deal with the rest, but hotels are primarily for sleeping and I need my beauty rest, or I can be REALLY Ugly and Cranky.

I'm worried and about to eat the $200.00 and see about a AAA or AP rate at one of the value resorts.

So what do you guys think??

That's the one that looks like a pineapple. I thought it looked like it might be for "workin' girls" if you catch my drift, but others have said it was very nice. We stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites (one of the DTD hotels) and while it wasn't a real WDW hotel, it was better than not being there at all.

My sister and I stayed there in February. We had two beds (cannot remember if they were full or queen). The beds were very comfortable. In fact, my sister went back to LBV in May and stayed at the Fairfield Inn, Marriott Village. In August she also visited her son in Chicago and stayed at a Country Inn & Suites. She is now in Connecticut staying at a Springhill Suites. She said of all those hotels, she preferred the Doubletree Club at LBV because of the comfortable beds. We got it for $44 on Hotwire in February also. I've been trying to get it on Hotwire for this month (Sept.) for that price but it's quite a bit more now.

why don't you try to use the discount codes on your Sept reservations - might be enough to stay at WL for your entire stay?

go look at mousesavers.com

I would check tripadvsior.com for hotel reviews to see any good reviews of this hotel.

The hotel looks nice enough. You don't want a value resort if you require a comfortable bed. I do not think those beds are comfortable at all. And, I would never "eat" the $200. It can't be that bad. If it were truly "bad" they wouldn't be in business - too much competition. I think you are safe with this hotel. JMHO. :)

Thanks for all the replys. I'm feeling better about the hotel. Trip advisor was where I saw all the bad reviews, but I looked at other hotels and ther were bad reviews as well, hotels I've stayed at and liked, so I'm going to stick with the Doubletree.

Tink61 - We've never stayed at a value, but I guess I thought all beds at Disney would be the same. I didn't even consider that they woud be uncomfortable. Thanks for the heads up!!

I'm coming in late, but saw this thread and thought I'd put in my two cents. I stayed there two years ago and thought the place was nasty. I wouldn't stay there again. It's definitely not the same as the regular Doubletree hotels. I would try hotelkingdom.com and find a nicer place to stay. I used Doubletree Club to sleep only (had a marathon type trip and got up early and got in late) and I still wouldn't stay there again. Good luck!!!!
