Is the DL Nemo ride different than the EPCOT version?

Hi All,.

My trip is only a few weeks away now and I have been getting the most wonderful advice on this board.

One more question: does the "Nemo" ride at Dl differ much from the one at EPCOT? I have been on the one at EPCOT, and I liked it, but I understand that DL Nemo is always really busy - and I'm not sure I like it enough to spend much time in line.

thx!

They are very different - the DLR version is in the old submarines and although we do like the Epcot version, we actually much preferred the DLR version. I think it's a definitely 'must do' - we went in July and rode twice - both first thing in the morning. We didn't have MM as stayed offsite with DAP's, but I suspect that might be a great time to try them but otherwise at park opening, we only had a 15 minutes wait both times but lines built up rapidly after that.

Not sure how many days you're going to be a DL, or what your schedule is like, but if you plan to ride the DL Nemo ride I strongly suggest planning to ride 1st thing in the morning, at rope drop, on one of your days at the park. The line gets long quickly, and due to the slow loading time on this ride, there is no fastpass option.

For the record, my family enjoyed this ride, but many say they could have skipped it as it wasn't worth the wait. I always tell people to do this ride at rope drop or save it for another trip.

I have had good luck boarding this ride with very little wait time near closing time. The ride will be different, since it is at night, but if you can't make it at rope drop, this time is the next best thing.

I don't think it's worth a first thing in the morning line (I'd rather be on Peter Pan), but late in the evening it's a pretty short line.

Considering that there is a PP in the MK like in DL. Nemo is much different and far more warrants a priority in the monring.

You will have to decide for yourself, of course, but we think the DL Nemo is horrible and a waste of time. On the other hand, we liked the Epcot Nemo quite a bit! the animations were well integrated, the story was more cohesive and it was infinitely more comfortable and attractive to us.

The rides are not alike at all, and a big part of the DL ride is the submarine aspect; ie, you get to go down into a semi-submerged sub and sit on folding viewing chairs, peering out of portholes.

All that being said, if you don't try it yourself, you will never know! LOL

:hippie:

I prefer Epcot's Nemo as well, but obviously it's individual taste! Some people find the subs more impressive. I found the animation and story in Epcot much more endearing, personally.

The line does seem to go down significantly later at night now, even on very busy nights. So if you can be in the park until near close one day early in your trip, I'd give that a try. (ONCE when we went at night the ride was closed--like any other ride, it can break down--so if it's a priority I'd try to do it sooner in your trip rather than later.)

As previous posters have mentioned, these two rides are entirely different. Our pre-schooler loves anything related to Nemo, so he loves both the DL submarine ride and the WDW "clam shell" ride. Our pre-teen boys really enjoyed the DL Nemo ride - after all, it's a submarine! But they really could take or leave the WDW clam shells.

We've never waited for the WDW Nemo ride for more than 5 minutes, even in the afternoon during peak season, but we knew it was going to be a different story for the subs at DL. So we used our MM for the Fantasyland rides. On our second morning at DL, we made a beeline for the submarines at rope drop, and we were on the first sub. In other words, no wait. Without the wait, we all loved this ride! But I agree that it would not be a priority if you only have one morning in DL, or if your party does not include Nemo fans!

Have a great trip!

If the lines are too long and you really want to see the show you could always try the Marine Observation Outpost, which is a room meant for the mobility challenged and/or claustrophobic. There's a large flat screen TV and you get to see pretty much the same show as the subs. :fish: Just ask a CM at Nemo about it.

Submarine ride at DLR has the submarines and for that simple reason it is a Must Do!!!!!

BUT the Epcot version is better.... and if you go at night on the Submarine ride youll see nothing much of the actual lagoon, etc since it is dark...only the nemo movie parts really are that viewable after dark.

The part where Dori makes the joke of the whale eating the yellow submarine was funny :) Be sure to listen for it lol
