Is the dining plan a pass?

Heres my scenerio:

Staying on site for 12 nights
Bought a 7 day park hopper with dining option

I have 2 questions:

Is the dining option an actual coupon or is it built into the park pass?
Can I use a dining option on one of the days even if I dont use the park pass?

The dining plan is 'built in' with your hotel package, not your park tickets. You get 1 TS, 1 CS, and one snack for each night of your stay. So, if you're staying 12 nights, you get a total of 12 TS, 12 CS, and 12 snacks per person to use from the day you check in until 11:59pm of the day you check out.

Not a paper coupon or park passes, you must present your "room keys" to get your meals.

Yes you can.

You can skip days, you can use 20 credits in one day. They are your credits, and as long as you do not go over your total credits you are not TIED down like others think.

I was wondering can two people use the dining plan at the same time? What I mean is can dh and I use points at one restaurant while my mom & dd use it at another? Since it is based on the room key does each key track the points used?

Yes each key does track. This is so you can split your group etc. All points are in a total pot and each person's key can activate the points.

Actually....it did, but now I'm even more confused....I was under the impression that the meal vouchers were only included in my 7 day park pass....not my 12 night hotel stay.

According to the CM I spoke with and the info on this board, it is directly related to how many nights you are staying on property. For our party of four, we are staying 6 nights. Therefore we have a total of 24 TS meals, 24 CS meals, and 24 snacks.

If you are still unsure, go ahead and call 407-WDisney and ask them to verify the number of meals you should have on your package. There is also a dining plan FAQ thread on this board somewhere, probably a page or so back.
