Im visiting from Fl, (Im a WDW Veteran) but I'll be by myself on business (the DL part will end my business trip) and I want to make sure I'm not in a bad area.

Can someone tell me about the area around DL?

I think it's fine. You'll be surrounded by tourists all around the DLR area, that's for sure!

I think close around the park is pretty nice. It is always well-lit, and pedestrians abound day and evening! I am a wimp, and I always feel safe.

If anything goes wrong just dial 9-1-1. They'll be there within a half hour.

I would agree that it is safe around DLR.

However, if my DW or children were alone at night, I would not want them walking along Harbor Blvd. During the day time, no problem. I think Harbor is pretty safe at night but a homeless person with mental issues near Mimi's scared my DW half to death one evening in 2005. And we were all walking behind her. That can of course happen anywhere but I am more cautious now.

Last trip we stayed at the BWPPI which requires crossing Harbor Blvd but not walking along it, and I was fine with that day or night. Walking through DTD at night would be fine in my opinion. But walking along Harbor at night makes me a little nervous for my family if they are solo.

Its not really safe wherever you go in this day in age, but in that area there are tourists galore and you will never really be alone. I have to agree though that walking Harbor at night might not be such a smart idea, just to play it safe you know? Disneyland doesnt stay open all night and people do go back to their hotel for a sleep and the restaraunts in the area do close although some at a late late hour. The great part though that if you were in trouble for some reason there are hotels EVEYWHERE that you wouldnt have a problem going into the lobby of any of them to get help. But in general you should be just fine. :)
