Is the ADR for DVC members the same as non-DVCers?

Is the ADR 180 day window the same for DVC members and non-DVC members? We just bought at SSR back in August, and our guide said that to make dining reservations for a trip to call a DVC reservation number, not a WDW reservation. Thank you!

I never call member services for dining reservations (BWV owner here). I always call 407-WDW-Dine. Dining opens before MS does and stays open later.

And yes, reservation window is the same for everyone.

why would DVC member services request this? Strange. I have never called a DVC number to make an ADR.

I have been chastised by a CM for using the abbreviation ADR though. He said, "we don't use that term."

DVC members can call MS to make dining reservations, but as someone else already posted, the WDW dining line opens earlier, so if you were looking to secure a popular ADR, you might be better off calling them. The only real advantage to calling MS is that it's a toll free call. Personally, I like making my reservations online.

Well, that in itself would annoy me. I've had CMs at Disney Dining call them ADRs...guess there are only some that don't like the term.

I never call MS to make dining plans. I always do it online...so much easier.

I second (or third?) the online dvcmember.com site for booking ADRs. There are some, like HDDR I call to book but just use the regular WDW-DINE number.

If you haven't set up your online account with DVC, do it. I really like being able to manage my account online.

yes, they use exactly the same system, and the booking window is exactly the same. DVC members can make reservations either through WDW-DINE or member services. The big differences are 1) Member Services is a toll free number (if that matters to you) and 2) WDW-DINE opens earlier than Member Services (7 Eastern as opposed to 9 Eastern). Your guide may have been pointing out that you have the option to use Member Services for making reservations - but you are not required to. If they gave you the impression that you are required to, that isn't correct.

ADR stands for Advance Dining Reservation. Wonder if the CM was objecting to the term or the use of the abbreviation. I think I heard somewhere that it is now Disney's policy to just use the term "reservation." But they don't have any business requiring customers to know whether or not Disney has changed their official terminology. Sheesh.
