Anyone ever get tickets from Stubhub? Is it legit? To me, this seems like scalpers over the internet no? I am a little confused, someone please clarify stubhub for me. :confused3
Trying to get tickets for Adam Lambert at the Borgata in Atlantic City for my mom. They have NOT gone on sale to the general public yet, just for people who joined the Adam Official website (so I guess they a pre-selling a limited amount) and I still cannot get them for her.

It's legit, but it's a complete rip-off.

At first I didn't get what you were saying, I was looking at the ticket prices and saw 2 tickets=$175 and thought thats not SO bad b/c the tickets are $65 each so the guy is making a $45 profit off of it but then I read further and its 1 ticket is $175!!!! :scared1:
Kinda annoying that people buy these just to sell them to make a profit off of someone else's talent and the people who really want to see this person now cannot.

What I've never understood is, if someone is standing outside an arena looking to sell extra tickets he has, and only for the price he paid, he can be arrested. Yet, it's legal for people to sell tickets at a 150% markup online.:confused3

price depends on the events and when you buy them. I got SF Giants tickets ~3 weeks before the game at a great price $11 - the next week they were up at $46. Supply and demand :thumbsup2

It's legit, we've been getting NFL tickets through them for years, but like others said, the mark-up is HUGE...sometimes several hundred percent on one ticket, plus fees. BUT they often have tickets for sold out or hard-to-buy events. We only use them if we have no other options for getting a ticket we want. It's the law of supply & demand - if they have something no one can get, then they can charge whatever they want. There is always someone willing to pay anything for a ticket. Frustrating, but legal!

100% legit...depending on the event you can find great deals or prices well over face value it just depends.

That's what I don't understand. Scalping tickets is illegal, but this isn't.

Yes, STUBHUB is completely legit.

But, yes tickets there can be expensive for two reasons...
First, yes, sellers are not looking to sell at a loss. Many are looking for profit. Why not???
Second, the STUBHUB fees are very high!!!!!
If I am right, they double dip, charging both the buyer and the seller a huge rate, which all comes into the final cost of the tickets.

I thought you could sell them outside of the arena as long as you were selling them for face value. It is only scalping if you charge more than they were originally worth. And don't ask me why THAT isn't illegal to do over the internet! :confused3

Stub Hub is legit, though some if its users might take advantage. Just like Ebay, when someone buys up a bunch of Zhu Zhu Pets or whatever the hot toy is, then sells them for double or triple the price.

We use StubHub to sell some of our hockey tickets. We have season tickets and can't go to all the games. Since we pay StubHub a 15% commission, we have to sell them for more than face value in order to get our money back on the sale, but we wouldn't mark them up THAT much!

Still, it's supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay the price, they will. If not, the seller may lower his price. Keep checking every day. Sometimes the closer you get to the date of the event, the lower the prices will be, if no one is biting at the high price.

yeah, this is what I don't get :lmao:

I bought Cubs tickets and got them right when they said I would. No problems. Price issues...that's another story. I say if you want the tickets, you want the tickets. :)

I was selling extra tickets for face value outside of an arena once. Some woman started yelling at me that it was illegal and I should be ashamed of myself. I told her I was selling them for face value and it was perfectly legal and she told me it wasn't. There was a cop nearby so I called him over and asked him and he told her what I was doing was perfectly legal.

I wonder why scalping it isn't illegal over the internet as well.

The brokers are allowed to act as a resale agent. They set their businesses/storefronts up in states that allow "Resale for profit." These states do exist.

The laws only apply to the state in which the broker is operating out of, even if the event is in a State that prohibits scalping. It's a loop hole that the brokers use.

With StubHub, even if the original seller resides in a State that prohibits the resale, by using StubHub (who, presumably is not located in a prohibitive State) as their broker, they are no longer bound to their State's laws.

It seems very complicated, but the brokers have found a way to make it work.

I have my first listing there now.. I have a pair of Eagles, Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban tix.

I planned on going but really should but the money towards the orthodontist:headache:

I did have to mark them up to cover stub hubs fee which is high.. but I actually have the lowest prices listed since I just want them to sell. I have seats lower level right by the stage.

The last time Bruce Springstein was in town, he made a bunch of extra shows, just to screw the scalpers. My friend went to all of them, because stubhub was selling them at face value to get rid of them.
