I have read this whole post. My head hurts. I will be renting a stroller to be used AS a wheelchair with a tag for my daughter when we go. I am very big on minding my own business and not sure how i would deal with sceanrios. (Looks given? i return an evil Grinch grin with that mind your business look) Comments made? This is where dad would simply state Mind yer Business! Enough said on that matter. Thanks for all the advice on this one everybody! We are here now and, thanks to you, we did rent a Lassen pushchair/stroller. It has been a lifesaver! Our son with DS is the slowest walker and quickest to get tired, so his ability to ride has been awesome. Even our 13 year old who came up with severe shin splints from soccer and dance in the last month before our trip has had to use it often. No weird looks like I was worried about. The only comment we have had from anyone was a Grandma who was upset that we have a “use a stroller as a wheelchair” tag, and that you can’t get that tag to use for a sleeping baby in a stroller.![]()
(1) i saw or read the ADVANTAGE comments and really its exactly why these services are available for...Those without , claim an unfair advantage? Not to sure how or why? and simply put The party that requires the device is meant to be used as an assistance to level the playing field for those that are at a DISADVANTAGE at the normal spectrum.
(2) And honestly not sure what we do in the park is really anyones concerns. IF you have part members able to walk the entire day no issues with lines and NOT forced to pay $$ for assistance, Kind of feel that its a you problem.
I will glady swap my childs issues that MAY or MAY NOT require the stroller as a wheel chair option with anyone's children or others that DO NOT require supportive devices. BUT i can bet there would be NO takers. SO the question is why concern yourself with others opinions feelings or comments. Juts KNOW it is what YOU need to Assist the experience and LEVEL the playing field.
I have to be very honest I AM the VERY worst for not accepting help and or assistance for our little one, and for many years I took it as TAKE away from others and or short comings as a dad without thinking that my child would have to work much harder in several scenarios than others to achieve the same outcome and may be forced to NOT be able to Participate/execute. I have grown as a father to be very mindful of her feelings, While in the same mind set be aware of consequences to her choices. (usually making one of us MOM or DAD have to carry her. This is NO easy feat at this stage of the game.
I am not sure how any or all of this info applies to anyone's specific scenario....But the bottom line is Dad has some thick skin everyone has an opinion good or bad, and honestly the looks and or comments made can be answered or ignored with a a specific mind set of DONT care what you think mentality. I am hoping all will be great and people will, As i am sure i will have a big smile when you see ANY person enjoying there vacation.
