Is SSR a good resort?

We like the Springs close to the hospitality house request rooms next to bus stop.

Last time i stayed at this resort i really enjoyed it. It was quieter than the other resorts I have stayed at which was nice. This resort felt more laid back and less busy.

We love SSR. I highly suggest the Paddock area. It is still close to the main area and we loved walking across the bridge and seeing the turtles and otters. Don't stay here if you don't like peace, quiet, and nature.

We are SSR owners who have stayed at numerous properties over the years for one reason or another. Just this past April we did a one night stay at Pop Century followed by 3 nights at the Polynesian. I will never stay at a value again - the crowd level was too intense for me. The Polynesian was beautiful, but again I was overwhelmed by the number of guests. By the end of our trip I was very happy we'd be back home at SSR in November.

We personally love the sprawling nature of SSR because it is quiet. The pool and quick service are never overwhelmingly busy. We also love to be a short walk or boat ride from Dowtown. At the end of a busy park day I love that i can leave the hustle and bustle behind while still being immersed in the magic.

Decide what is important to you as far as resort amenities and come back for some great tips on what section to request.

We bought into SSR because of the low annual maintenance fees. I never thought we'd actually stay there because we are usually very successful in booking BWV or BCV for our stays. However, when we wished to save points, we did book SSR a few times over the past 5 years. As adults only, we pick Congress Park. After a day in the parks or shopping, their quiet pool overlooking Downtown Disney is wonderful. We jog the property every morning. So in the end, we liked it more than we thought we would! Admittedly, I still like the Epcot Resorts more...but SSR is not as laid back as OKW, has a good food court, nice restaurant, and pathways to Downtown Disney. That being said, we do rent a car when staying at SSR....but that's a whole other thread that's out there I'm sure. Overall, we are quite pleased with SSR.

We've stayed at SSR many times, beautiful resort and in fact staying there during food and wine. Favorite area, Congress Park, Downtown Disney view! The Turf Club has really good prime rib and the Artist Palette has very good sandwiches. I love SSR's proximity to DTD. Early dinner leaves room for a boat ride to DTD/Girardeli's Ice Cream!

We just came back from a stay at SSR and we saw them roasting marshmallows one evening in the courtyard outside the Community Hall near High Rocks Pool.

The June Recreation Calendar shows the movies as Toy Story, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Finding Nemo, Frozen, Maleficent and Big Hero 6 - Sunday through Saturday order. The movies are held at High Rocks Pool.

Stayed there for the first time in May and was pleasantly surprised. The resort is beautiful and quiet. Our room was so convenient, we were in the Paddock right next to the pool, bus stop and bridge. The multiple stops didn't really bother me since most resorts share buses. It's a little easier to get to other resorts for dining too due to the proximity to downtown Disney, you can just transfer to whatever resort bus you want there.

There are four pools at SSR: The High Rock Pool in the Springs/Carriage House section, which has a slide, hot tubs, and a water play area; the Paddock pool in the Paddock section, which has a slide and an even better water play area; the Congress Park pool, which is more of a quiet pool without slide; and the Grandstand pool, which is also like a quiet pool without slide.

The Grandstand pool is themed with a waterplay area for kids. Congress Park is a leisure pool without theming - just a pool with a hot tub. More adult than the others. But that doesn't mean kids won't like it. Just no fun water play areas there.

The Congress Park play area isn't new; it was there in July 2012 when we stayed at SSR. Here are a couple photos from that trip:

My kids loved the CP pool, they were 12 and 8 at the time and felt there too many smaller kids in the High Rocks pool that they had to look out for. We went to CP pool and they basically had it to themselves all week -much more relaxing for us as well.
