Is splitting up resort stays a pain or a delight?

We are spilting our stay in July. We are going for 6 nights total this trip and are booked for the first 2 nights in SSR and the last 4 in POP. We were orginally supposed to stay at POP for 5 nights but decided to book SSR because of the AP discounted rate and added an extra night. I would rather stay at SSR the whole trip, but the last four nights we are traveling with my family and they only want to stay at POP. I hope it is not a pain to switch. We just look at it as a two night vacation for us and then four nights with the family some place else. By the time we go home, we will have stayed in four differnet places!!

Hmm, at lot of negative views on the split stay here! I had read before many posts of people who do it & find it no problem.

We are doing 2 nights at CR w/DDP and then 5 nights at BCV, no DDP using DVC points. (First time for everything-- first time at CR, at BCV and on DDP! :yay:) Fri and Sat nights are much more expensive on points which inspires the split. Also this way we will spread our 2 days of DDP credits over 3 days. Since everyone says it's so much food we thought that would work well for us; we can use the credits until midnight of the 3rd day. Once we're at BCV we'll get groceries and use the kitchen and counter service. Concentrate our fancy dining in those first couple of days with DDP.

I know there is an extra packing step but I am not at all worried about that as I am a champion packer and organizer. I can pack up everything for our family of five & be out of any hotel room in less than 15 mins.

I was planning to check out of CR early on the 3rd day, send the luggage over using Bell Services, go to Epcot, and walk over to the BC at the end of the day to check in. But now I am not sure about relinquishing control of the luggage. Maybe I could go to BCV with the luggage & check in while the others went direct to Epcot & we met up at the park. Or we could all go to BCV & walk to Epcot. I also like the idea of being at BCV in the morning to check in rather than waltzing in after a day in the parks, in case there is any problem whatsoever.

Any comments or suggestions?
