Is September a bad month to cruise?

I was just curious as to why the rates for a 4 day start at $399.00. Is this a bad month to cruise or is it because that is a down time? TIA

For DCL the rates go down then for 2 reasons...#1 summer is high season because kids are out of school but go back in the fall. The other reason is it is hurricane season even though it technically starts in June or July the rates on all cruise lines drop in Sept, Oct and some into November. We've sailed quite a few times in September and October and had a great time. The one thing you do need to remember is that if a Hurricane does form that there is a chance that you will not visit the islands you were originally planning on but if that doesnt bug you it's a great time to go!

The main reason for the low rates is because it is the "value" season -- meaning it's a slow time of year for tourism in Florida. Kids are back in school and the parks are pretty quiet also. Not to mention our golf courses, restaurants, hotels, etc. Thus it also becomes a very likely time for our coveted Florida resident discounts!!! Great deals on the cruises, resorts, etc. Last Sept. we booked 1 night at Animal Kingdom Lodge for $109 (plus taxes) and then were upgraded to a Savannah View when we got there!!
Yes--Sept. falls in our hurricane season but I don't believe that's a reason for cheaper prices--and if it were--I'd take the chance!! They pretty much steer clear of them--but the waves can still be rough.

Not a bad month at all.
We have sailed every Labor Day weekend since 1998 and have great weather (although we did sail between two hurricanes one year!). We're already booked for our 2004 Labor Day sailing.

It's a great time to go if you are able to travel then, and the price is less. We had a terrific time in Sept. 2002 on the Wonder. The weather was beautiful!

It is a great time to go!!! My DW and I went on our first cruise 9/22/02. The seas were very calm and enjoyed it so much we went on another cruise 8 months later. Just remember the height of the hurricane season is Sept 10. That doesn't mean there will be one then, but historically more have happened around that date.

Wow, thanks guys. As of last night we were going to hold off until towards the end of the year because DH gets very seasick....but I think we might try it in September anyways!

We have always travelled in either September or October for every one of our Disney Cruises. Call it the luck of the draw, but on 5 of 5 cruises, we have never missed a port-of-call.

My personal recomendation is to go late October when the weather is more likely to be a little cooler (early September can still be extreamly hot in the tropics).
