We love Sci Fi, the atmosphere is so much fun, and the movies are so bad they are great too. The food leaves a little to be desired, nothing too special, but edible all the same.
But as for the kids, well, I dont think they'd know most of the movies, there is one or two cartoons- but on the whole its a re-creation of a drive in movie theater which really appeals more to adults maybe? If you've never been, go, you wouldn't be too disappointed I'm sure.

We did Sci Fi for the first time this year. It was a must do, we enjoyed it but not enough to do it the second time. I am glad we tried it but we found the wait long with 2 kids, we were over an hour from the time we sat down to when we finally left. It took forever to get our food. The kids were bored and we weren't far behind. The food was fine but nothing spectacular.

We just tried Sci Fi last Tuesday and I am so glad we did! The food was decent and the atmosphere was awesome! My 5 year old loved sitting in a car and he thought it was great he could get a milkshake. It's not a must do for every trip but I think everyone should try it once.

I don't think it's a must-do. We did it once and it was ok but the novelty wore off after about 10 minutes. I think adults who remember drive-ins will have the best time.

I wanted to add that we had an ADR for 11:35am and only waited about 2 minutes. :)

We went there in June and really enjoyed it. My 3 year old is obsessed with cars, so it was a must-do for us. We also really enjoyed our lunch... cheeseburgers and milkshakes. We are skipping HS altogether in March or we would hit Sci-Fi again.

If you've never been, I think it's a must do just for the ambience. The food is NOT stellar by any stretch of the imagination. I hear the burgers are pretty good though, which I think you'll find more of during the lunch hours. They have really good milkshakes as well.

It's a very fun place to go, especially for kids. Sitting in the little cars, watching the totally corny video clips......it's great!

Was there this week. Food was kind of blah and overpriced, but the kids enjoyed sitting in a car and watching movies...

How about just going OOP for shakes? still get the VERY cool atmosphere, and maybe you won't over-think it! Our boys LOVE it, since they were your kids age, now they still love it, one with a new son of his own!

I have to agree with most of what was already said:
It is alot of fun atmosphere-wise, and the kids (7 & 9) get a kick out of the cheesy special effects. The food is ho-hum. We go every trip because the kids love the concept and we are on the dining plan. I would not pay OOP for it, though.

We went a couple of years ago and even with ADR we waited about 45 mins. We are a family of 5 so one of us (me) sat in the back seat all alone. The food was only so so. No one has ever asked to go back.

We just went in June. This was our first try at SciFi. The 12 year old loved it but the rest of us could have done without it. I have a 3 and 4 year old and it was very hard to eat with both of them at the car table as it is smaller than most tables and we have stuff all over it with the three of us. I also don't like that you can't enjoy the meal as a family as there is a large screen and only a few people can sit in each bench.

We are glad that we tried it but won't go back. Food was just okay and the service wasn't great either.

I definately wouldn't pay out of pocket for it. Not sure that we should have used the credits for it! Oh and we waited about 45 minutes for our table.

For us it is a must do, but only for lunch. We've done dinner and were not impressed. I really hate to say it because we LOVE this place so much... BUT, in your situation, I think I'd cancel.

Every Disney fan should try Sci-Fi at least once and experience the unique atmosphere. After one meal, the food quality may dissuade you from returning. Some parties, though, don't care much about the food and go every trip for the setting! Try it and see where you stand. I promise you will not regret keeping the reservation!

This is nowhere near our must-do list. We did it once before and were underwhelmed. And that was before I even discovered DIS, so it's not like it was hyped up or anything.

Definatly not a must do for us. We went last December and both of my boys ended up sick. {ages 16 & 17} As stated the food is just all right, nothing there is a must have on the menu.

It was fun - a must do for our November trip. We paid OOP and found the sandiwch/burger prices to be reasonable and pretty good. The kids loved the novelty of the cars and DH and the kids liked the clips. I liked it less - the clips kind of annoyed me after a while. It could have been the fact that we had the slowest service ever so it felt like we were there forever. Anyhow, I'm glad we did it, but it isn't a must do for our upcoming trip. We would go back though in the future.

We enjoy Sci-Fi for lunch, especially on a hot day and we will continue to go back there from time to time. The cheeseburgers and reubens are fine. Not our idea of a place to eat dinner though.
