Is salad an appatizer?

Hi all.....

We booked the DDP and I've been scanning all the menu's on this site. I see several places that have appatizers, salads, entree's... etc., on the menu. Some places only have 1-2 appatizers to choose from but many salads.... Can you get a salad as your appatizer credit? That would open up a lot of posssibilities. I would LOVE to get the salad, split the entree/desert with DH and spread out our TS credits a little further.

Anyone do this before?

What I found at TS while I was on DDP was that if you asked for something it was basically up to the waiter/waitress as to what they were going to give you and how lenient they were going to be. They are the ones that know how to bend the rules and how far they will be able to bend them. I would say just ask and if he/she does honor your requests reward them with a cash tip, in addition to the tip that is included with the plan.

We did this last trip and the waiters/waitresses were very thankful!

Basic salads (lettuce, veggies, nuts, etc) are usually included as an appetizer, it's when you get a chicken breast or steak on top that generally moves over to the entree section.

Some servers allow you to "add on" the meat at no additional cost, but I consider that an "extra" not included in the plan - nice if it happens but should not be expected.

Last summer our server at Coral Reef actually encouraged me to add the scallops to my salad appetizer--it was a very nice extra.
