Is room 6030 noisy?

We just got our boarding passes and lo and behold, we were upgraded! This is our second cruise and we were very happy with the room on deck 2 near the stern, but not too far back. When I opened our passes, it says room 6030! I took a look and it's near (when I say near, I mean right there) the front elevators. Is this something to be worried about?
We are pretty excited about getting bumped up from a cat 9 to a cat 6. Yikes! I hear once you get upgraded, you never want to go back. Stinkers!

Another question...
If one is traveling with friends, do they also normally get upgraded?

Thanks for your help.

Looks like a good spot to me not far from elavator and u only have otherstaterooms above u ... congrats... on the upgrade...

The problem with this is now u have a verandah and will not ever want to go back to deck 2

We have stayed in 6034 on both the Wonder and Magic and loved the location. We love it so much, we'll be in it again Easter 2004. We have never heard any noise from the elevator area.

I'm glad to hear some good things about this location. We booked ourselves for cabin #6042 for our 7-night western cruise next summer, and then my SIL and BIL booked this cruise too and asked to be put in a cabin as close to us as possible. They are now booked in cabin #6032, just 5 doors down from us. On the deck plans it looks like a good location. I have a personal preference of being mid to forward and these cabins are right in that section of the ship ::yes:: :boat:

We've also had a stateroom right at the elevator, and never noticed any extra noise because of it.

Enjoy that extra pixie dust!!!!! :earsgirl:

I was in 7020 and although this is a bit more forward than your cabin, you will love the location...and yes, Picky me found the cabin very quiet (perhaps you saw my post about the clock ticking)
Make sure you stand on your veranda as you leave Castaway Cay. You will probably on the dock side (which isn't ideal I admit) but you can wave to the CMs who will be wearing Mickey hands. One yelled "thanks for coming" - I didn't need to be thanked!

Oh my gosh! You guys are so great! Thanks for all of the information. I am so excited that this cruise is just around the corner! Now I just have to watch the weather channel to figure out how warm it's going to be. It's getting down to 28* tonight, so it's hard to imagine packing a bathing suit.

Thanks again!

Hi SeaSpray

My family and I will be in #6032 in April. The reason I picked it is because it is close to the elevator. Convenience you know. I plan on being so exhausted each night that no noise could possibly keep me awake. I guess I need a vacation from my vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kitty - did you ever get an answer to your question about upgrades when traveling with friends? I just booked my 7 night Eastern cruise for Feb 5, 2005 and was assigned rooms 2078 for myself and my husband and room 2080 for my friend and her husband. Because our room assignment is in the "noisy rooms", I am very concerned. If anyone has any advice, please let me know!

TIA,
Stacy

We stayed in 6042 in 2001 and found it a very good location. It was easy to get anywhere you needed quickly. It was not noisy at all.
