Is Radisson by Universal really within walking distance?

Hi,
I've read various posts about the Radisson across the street from Universal Studios. Is it really within walking distance or is the road so busy that it's really not safe or feasible? I've also read that the shuttle goes to several hotels. To anyone who has stayed there: How long is the trip by shuttle from Radisson to US/IOA? How often does it run? Where do you meet it to return to hotel? Also does the Radisson have transportation to/from the airport for a fee? Thanks for any info!

You probably could walk to Universal from the Radisson. The walk is about 10-15 minutes.

The shuttle stopped at the Wyndham, the Delta Orlando and one other when I was there two years ago. It took about 20 minutes to get to the park.

Absolutely you can walk it. there are even pedestrian crossing lights. You are crossing 8 lanes of traffic so you better watch for those drivers not paying attention, but it is a short walk and i bet the Raddison even can tell you the shortest route, maybe thru the parking garage????

Yes, it's very walkable. In fact, I think ANY place on Major Blvd is within walking distance (although it can sometimes be a long walk.

I'm not so sure you can cut through the parking garages. And even if you could, it wouldn't save you that much time. Besides, the sidewalk that goes along the canal and into CityWalk via the valet parking drop off area makes for very pretty stroll.

Hi. We stayed at the Days Inn, right by the Radison, last year and we walked to over to Universal everyday. While you can, I don't recomend it. The light at the major intersection changes really, really fast and you have to run like crazy to cross the street. It is a great walk in the morning, especially across from the path across from the Hard Rock, but at night it is creepy and usually no one else is walking it, so you're alone. If you got to HHN and wind up staying late, it's really creepy! Best bet is to walk there in the morning and then grab a Taxi down at the Guest Drop Off. It I'll only be about 5-6 bucks. Thats what we wound up doing since we were dog tired by the end of the day.

Yes, you can do it. Don't use the hotel shuttles, they don't show up and stop at other places along the way. Stayed at the Delta once, got to the shuttle stop early in the morning and waited 30 minutes, noone showed up, then got in my car and drove over, I was POd.
Not sure if the Radisson has an airport shuttle, most people use Mears. You walk from the Radisson/TGIFridays parking lot to the intersection. The thing you need to watch for are people making a right turn, make sure they are stopped, put your hand up, then RUN across the street looking at the cars to make sure they are stopped. After you cross, you'll see a huge grass hill around the garage with 2 walls. You can't climb the walls, so you walk around on the grass along the exit road towards the parking garage. You'll come to the exit lane of the garage, walk down it to the left, watch for cars, halfway around you'll see a door to the garage to your right, it will be open. Go in, a man will be there directing traffic, he'll point you across the traffic lane to the walkway, and from there you go up and use the moving sidewalks. You may even find an abandoned stroller (we did), that the kid can get in. You'll see nice views of the park and get real excited as you move along the sidewalk.
Go back the same way, or go to the other side of the garage, you'll see an office with a pet center, across the exit road, up the grass hill, then jump down the 2 walls, it's fun if you have kids, like an adventure. Yeah, at night it's dark, so watch for cars, and make sure the people making a right turn at the light see you. Is it worth saving the $7, yes, it's all about the principle, and if you visit multiple times, it adds up.

I'm by no means a Universal-pro (only been there last year for Halloween and going again next weekend), but I stayed at the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS--no, just kidding. I stayed at the Radisson at Universal and while we were waiting inline for the shuttle, one of the guys that worked at the hotel grabbed one of the hotel minivans, hollered at us, and drove us straight to Universal in a hurry. We caught a taxi back and it was only $4 (which we split between the 4 of us, only $1 each!!!).

We stayed at the Radisson Universal last year and the people that worked there were absolutely awesome... they were extremely nice, and the hotel was pretty impressive too. :pinkbounc

megbri,

You just reminded me of when I stayed at the Radisson, limos who did not have a fare to take anywhere would offer us rides for 4 and 5 dollars!

One offered us a ride and we told him we were waiting for our FREE shuttle. He said jump in and pay him anything we wanted to. We got in, had a hilarious ride to the parks by this entertaining driver, and ended up paying him $5 for what was well worth it!

Yes, the Radisson is a very impressive hotel.

I *wondered* what the limos were for outside the hotel! I have a great picture of one of my friend's from last year's HHN in front of one of them. That would beat the heck out of riding in a shuttle bus, I tell you what!!!!!!!!!!! :)
