We're just beginning our plans for our very first trip to Disney in October. We have 2 kids, ages 6 (almost 7) and 2. We want the resort to be a special part of our trip since we'll probably be spending a lot of time there. Do you think the Poly is our best choice? Is conceirge a good idea or not in our situation? We'll be staying for 4 nights I believe. Tips? Advice? Best view of the castle?

Thanks!
Angie

Great choice.::yes::

You will love it. Very close to the MK yet you'll feel so relaxed. Tons of things to do....pools, boats, beach for sand play and basking, kids activities....but not too spread out. Huge rooms, great staff, monorail to visit GF & CR or go over to the MK and catch a boat to FW or WL...or take the bus from the TTC to those resorts. Mostly just enjoy the Polynesian.

The only down side is it's hard to stay somewhere else in the future!:sunny:

I must agree with BVC23. The Poly is a great choice, but once you stay there it is very hard to stay anywhere else. We stayed there (lagoon view, concierge) in 2002 with our DS's (then 6 and 4). It was great for them. The volcano pool is fantastic with its zero entry end and great slide through the middle of the mountain. The beach is right there for the kids to play on. We actually skipped going to Universal for a day just to stay at the resort and relax. Also you can't beat the location with both the MK and Epcot monorail within walking distance of our room. The concierge was great for us. We ate breakfast there every morning and the kids loved being able to go to the lounge on their own to get a snack or drink. Made them feel very grown up. We also used the concierge for light dinners by the pool. We would eat a big lunch late in the afternoon at the parks and then come back to the resort, get in our suits, pick up some snacks and drinks at the lounge and sit and watch the kids play in the water. It was wonderful. You will love it.

Unfortunately for us we will be staying at the CR Tower Clubwhen we go this May. DW got a great rate there that was too good to pass up. I knnow we should try other resorts but like BCV23 said, once you stay there it is hard to stay anywhere else.

The Poly is wonderful - and our favorite resort. We don't have kids and we like the romantic feel of the place. But, with folks with kids...it's great. Very magical. Easy access to the Magic Kingdom where you'll undoubtedly spend most of your time. Great restaurants, excellent zero entry pool.

For castle views, of course lagoon views are the best bet. We think the views from Tahiti are great. Concierge - not sure how to advise you on that. We don't go concierge because honestly the only big perk for us would be the food offerings. And, at the Poly you would be in the Hawaii building - some of which don't have balconies. You can also "luck up" and get a garden view room with a side view of the castle.

The beach areas are great - best views on property.

Have fun - Aloha!!!!

Thank you so much! I guess we need to decide conceirge or not now! I want to, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money to us. Thank you again!

I've never stayed there, but his trip when we went to dinner at O'Hana's DH and I both agreed....we should've stayed at the POLY! (Or the YC/BC another favorite!)

We are treating ourselves to concierge next January for two reasons. The location seems great and the snacks will be convenient. I don't know if it is worth the money, but that is why we are trying it on a split stay. Now we are just hoping for a great view of the castle.
