Help us choose which is best for us, Poly or WL for Feb. 28 - Mar. 4, 2008:
DH
DW (me)
DD will be 6 at time of trip
DS 2, the terrible kind of two, though we love him to bits!
We will spend four days in the parks, one in AK, and the other days split somehow between MK and EPCOT.

Thanks for taking the time for your input, I truly appreciate it!

I really couldn't choose between Poly or WL. I have stayed at them both twice each. We started off the "deluxe" hotel level at WL and loved it. Personally I really love Poly because you can walk to the TTC and take the monorail to Epcot. Poly has really good qualities but its really expensive. Is it worth the money? No doubt about it...i'd say Poly.

I think it depends on a couple things. How much money you want to spend and do you like the islands feel or the Wilderness feel?

They are such different resorts with such a different price tag attached.
If it were me I would say the Poly.

I say WL...but my only reason for that vote is because the rooms at the Poly appear dark to me. I have never stayed that, so the pictures I have seen might not be an accurate image of detail.

I say Poly because of the 2yr old. We went with DD, 1 yr old, a few months ago and stayed at AKL and GF. While AKL was great and had we not had a little one would have totally enjoyed it, collapsing a stroller and holding a fussing 1 yr old for a bus ride every night was not fun. Once we were at GF we just rolled her, stroller and all into the monorail and then into the room at GF. She never had to be waken up until we were back at our room and moving her into the crib.

We upgrated to Poly for convenience with kids. It is worth the extra money to us. Your two year old will love the monorail as an alternative from the crowded buses.:dance3:

Plus you mentioned that you love the Poly. If mommy is happy, everyone is happy.:thumbsup2

Good luck!

I prefer the WL over the Poly. However, the Poly is on the monorail, which makes it very convenient for entry/exit to the MK. The boat to WL is great, but takes a bit longer.

I love WL and would recommend it BUT ...

with 2 year old you will like the monorail,

you won't be needing the hot tub at WL

The Poly rooms are much bigger than the Wilderness Lodge, you can take the ferry right from the marina at the Poly to MK or the Monorail to Epcot from the TTC right next door, the beach at the Poly is awesome!, the zero entry volcano pool is great, wishes is great from Poly.

I voted for the Polynesian! If you plan on spending some afternoons in the room for naps, etc., the rooms would be great because they are so large. Plus it is on the monorail to the MK and close to the Ticket & Transportation Center. There is a beach, two excellent pools, and IMO the best thing you can watch Wishes from the Volcano Pool. :)

We have stayed at both and my kids loved both. I prefer the Poly for the monorail, tropical atmosphere, larger rooms and ability to watch the fireworks from the beach. That being said, we are most likely staying at the WL when we go back in April unless a really good special comes out that makes the Poly more affordable. With a AAA discount right now the Poly is $875 more for our 8 night stay and we just can't justify that this time around.

I recently came back from a trip where I did a split stay between the WL and the Poly. My DS6 and I prefer the Poly.
WHY?
1. if you are spending more time at MK and Epcot, being on the monorail is easier. you also have the boat option for MK.
2. rooms are larger at the Poly. (however, having the sinks outside bathroom in WL is a plus).
3. we liked the zero entry pool
4. seemed to us to be more laid back.
5. close access to the TTC

1. Poly rooms are bigger and were recently (2006) refurbished. The resort as a whole went under refurbishment.

2. You are on the monorail. Great for MK access.

3. You can walk to the TTC. Great for Epcot monorail. Great for MK ferry. Great for MK monorail w/out stops at the resorts.

It depends. You can use the monorail at the Poly and I hear it's kid friendly. It fit's 5 and is bigger. Tahiti is the biggest building there. The whole WL is under one roof. That is nice if it rains. It doesn't use the monorail and only fits 4. Both hotels have flat screens.:cool1: I don't whether you prefer the Hawaii (Poly) or camping (WL) theme.:confused3 I would personally choose the Poly. I hope you have a great trip!:cheer2:

I'll sum it up for you in a quick song... Poly, Poly, bo boly, banana fana fo foly, me my mo moly, POLY!!!

Just got back from the Wilderness Lodge and we're returning to our favorite the Poly in October. I think you would find the monorail much more convenient to Epcot than using the buses at WL. The rooms are much bigger and IMHO they seem to be brighter to me than the wilderness rooms but thats just personal choice. I'm a tropical girl at heart so the theming at the Poly is PERFECT for me but if you're more of a western gal or guy then you may lean towards the WL. Either way you'll have a fabulous time!!

I voted for Poly. We have stayed there 4x. Stayed at WL 1x and fell in love with it. We slightly prefer WL as far as the resort itself and the whole experience, but I must go with Poly on this one because of your two year old for all the reasons mentioned above. You can't go wrong with either, but it will be so much easier for all of you if you can monorail/ferry to MK and walk to TTC for monorail to Epcot. Have fun! tink

I know I asked this on anther thread but it's important in how I decide where we are staying.:hyper2:
Are the sinks located outside the bathroom at the Poly?
It will be myself, my brother and our two nephews so being able to use the sink while someone else was actually in the shower would be great. I know the Poly has bigger rooms than the WL. but the WL has sinks outside the BR..
I know.... silly thing to base a trip on.:rotfl2:

But what the heck, this is Disney where planning becomes 95% of the fun!!!

thanks!!!:tigger:

Sinks at the Poly are inside the bathroom.

I voted for Poly because of the monorail. You have 2 young children and probably a stroller, so the monorail will be heaven as you can just roll it right on and off. We've been to WDW many times with our baby and then toddler twins and I can say from past experience that the more convenient the resort is, the more relaxing our trip was.

Having stayed at both, I can say they are both very nice and unique in their own way. However, I voted for the Poly simply because with a 2 year old who will most likely use a stroller it will be easier in regards to transportation. Since you say most of your time will be at MK and EPCOT, you will be able to travel on the monorails and not have to fold the stroller. Also, the Poly has the zero entry pool which is great for smaller kids, they can go as deep or as shallow as they want. WL has either the one foot kiddie pool or 3 ft regular pool.
