is photopass the same as wdw?

Photopass is essentially the same as WDW, but because there are only 2 parks and less photo ops, the CD is cheaper at DL than WDW. Don't know if the cards are the same, but I do know you can enter both cards on the same order online.

Just to add to the this for the benefit of the OP.

They don't give the roughly 1/3 off preorder deal that is common at WDW. But the photocd's regular price at DLR is always roughly 1/3 the cost of WDW to compensate for the value of it during the commonly shorter trips to DLR.

This isn't how it used to be. Just back 3 years ago it cost the exact same as at WDW and you could pre-order. Then they started playing with the price in early '08, and it all settled out around the end of that year to what it is now.

I have another question...

When I was at WDW we saw many characters out with photopass photog there to capture the pictures. I was wondering if they have that at DL or if all character shots just need to be on your own camera?

This is waht I saw at WDW too, it wasn't 100%, depending on the popularity of the M&G and if the meet had a designated spot. When it did there was always a PP Photographer.

We noticed on our last trip (last week of June) that there was a noticable decrease in the number of pp photogs out in both parks. Budget cuts or a result of construction in DCA - who knows? But we definitely ended up with a lot less pp pics than we have had in other trips.

Of the pp photogs we did see and work with - almost ALL of them ased US if we wanted the same pics taken with our cameras. This seemed to be new to us anyway. They would always take a pic with our camera if we asked nice - but I don't recall them offering - at least not every time anyway.

I got that same report when we were there. The CMs were really upset about it, they were hired to be photographers and ended up mostly being crowd control.
