Is Park Vue Inn worth $50.00 more/night than HOJO?

I am really looking forward to more reviews on the PVI. We are just starting to plan an August vacation/honeymoon. We have narrowed it down to the PVI or HOJO's. I priced it out for our time frame and the PVI is only about $7 more per night than HOJO. I have read some of the reviews and it seems the only real negative thing about the PVI is their management or maybe the lack of. We will be bringing our 11 yr old with us even though it will also be our honeymoon. I can't imagine doing Disney without her. She is my coaster buddy! We have had two trips to WDW in 2008 and 2010 and haven't been to Disneyland since 2007. We are really looking forward to going back. Last time we stayed at the Anaheim Camelot Inn and decided this time to try something different.

switched my ressie at PVI back to HOJO's, since they came out with the ETrate for 3 of my nights. ($80 per night difference)
Hopefully my kids will love the pool (my kids are weird)

Yes, Trip Advisor is usually the first place we look when considering a new hotel. Sounds like they have done some refurbishing lately so it looks pretty good. Like I said mainly the only negative seems to involve their management and trying to get issues resolved with them. I wish we could get the entertainment book rate but that's not available for our time in August. I did go to mousesavers and they have a code that works that even saves us over the AAA rate.

Just returned home from our DLR vacation today and we stayed at the PVI. I'd be happy to answer any questions ... overall, we thought it was great. The only negative we found was that the laundry room was only open 8am-10pm. I had hoped to wash a couple of loads of laundry after returning from the parks one night, but ended up needing to stay in the next morning to do them ~ which reduced our park time, but increased the sleep-in time for our kids.

LOTS of positives about this place. Yes, it is an older building, but it seems to be well-kept and updated. We had a queen/bunkbed/trundle room. Didn't end up using the trundle, but was nice to have in case we needed it. Paid $99/night and booked last September.

I do have a few PVI photos, but they are still on the camera ~ hope to transfer them within the next few days. I've never posted any photos, but will try to figure it out.

How much is the ET rate at HoJO?

Here you go- http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14 They update this often, adding/deleting/etc. Just call and be sure you ask for their "In House" reservations. They may or may not ask for your Entertainment card when you check in.

Maddie2, My family and I will be going to Park Vue for the first time in April . It sounds like a nice place with all the great reviews. I was wondering how the queen--bunk room was? That's what we have reserved for us, so the kids can have seperate beds. I heard the rooms are a little small, but we don't really care as long as it's a clean place to sleep. Also looking forward to the breakfast and lite dinner! Wow you got a Great Deal for 99$ a night! Oh and if you have any pictures I would love to see them. Thanks Candy

The rooms are kind of small, but like you, we didn't really care. It was wonderful for our kids to have separate beds and they zonked out as soon as their heads hit the pillows. The kids said the beds were a little firm but I thought our bed was just right. It probably just depends on what you are used to. Had we needed the trundle, we would have felt the smallness of the room more. When you pull out the trundle it blocks the walkway into the bathroom.

The breakfast is quite vast - waffles, muffins/donuts/danish/toast/bagels (not always all on the same day), sausage, egg patties, hashbrowns, yogurt, cottage cheese, cut up fresh fruit (pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, muskmelon), instant oatmeal, bananas, oranges, apples, milk, chocolate milk, and 4 juices. On Sunday instead of the egg patties, they had egg/cheese omelettes (the premade kind). Breakfast is served 7am-10am. Of course, the earlier you go, the better the selection.

We went to the social hour 4 times - there was always lettuce salad, jello, and 2 kinds of soup - chicken noodle and either tomato or some kind of tomato/vegetable. The main item changed each day - nachos, mini-burgers, mini-chicken sandwiches and chicken wings. Drinks consisted of red kool-aid and water. Nothing fabulous, but it was nice to have a little something. We usually had one meal in the parks mid-day and then a 1-2 shared snacks in the late evening. The food options at the PVI are certainly budget helpers!!

Will try to get photos up this weekend. I took so many photos that it is overloading our computer and DH needs to do some maintenance before I do anything more.

So loud it was hard to sleep and we were dead tired from being in the parks all day. They really have to address the steel doors because they just let the noise from the cars and trucks right in.

The rooms was clean and the walk was fine but there are hotels alot closer. Next time i go back i will stay closer and pay whatever the cost not to have the highway wake me up.

Thanks for sharing so much info! I've been looking to book something for two nights after our cruise and kept waiting for Ent. rates at HoJo, but they're still not offering them for my dates. I just booked a two queen plus bunk bed room for $154 a night! Since we have 6 people, I think this rate really can't be beat and I'm excited to stay some place new and the shorter walk! I couldn't find the layout on their site. I was told it's one of their new rooms.

Having never been to Disneyland (been to DW about 15 times and always stayed onsite) and not knowing the area i trusted all the great reviews on this site and tripadvisor about HOJO's. My wife and i did not read 1 review about the highway and the noise being a problem. HOJO was a good bit cheaper then Paradise Pier and since it was only for 2 nights we figured to give it a shot. We booked a king room and figured that was it, didnt know about the different buildings or locations.

To my surprise when we got there we saw there were a lot of hotels closer to the main entrance which we didn't know either (hard to tell the main entrance looking at the maps we saw).

Knowing all of what i know now about the HOJO location and noise i would not stay there no matter what rate they gave me. I would try 1 of the hotels right across the street from the main gate if i was looking to save some money or 1 of the disney hotels. Saving $20-40 a night on that trip was so not worth it looking back at it.

When we were at Park Vue in Dec we got a note that they were now starting the breakfast earlier because of magic mornings. I believe it opens at 6:00am and goes through 10:00. It was brand new time to make it easier for people who take advantage of magic mornings. You can always call and ask to double check though.

We have reservations at the PVI in June. For us, the PVI was cheaper by a bunch than HOJO (no ent rate offered). We are really looking forward to the shorter walk and free full breakfast!

I booked on line, it was cheaper than when I called. I just friended them so I'm wondering if I can get an even lower rate. That would be awesome!
