Is PARK HOPPER worth an additional $162 for 6-days? $30/day.

I know $162 could buy a lot of other things...I just don't think we would park hop everyday...not even one day.

6-day tickets for 4 parks....and Animal Kingdom isn't really a whole day or MGM....we've been down that road many a time. =))

Please let me know your opinions.

I've got $922 for 6-day parkhopper and $760 for a base ticket...$162 difference over 6-days equals...about $30/day.

2-adults and 2 children

Park Hopper Option - Adding the Park Hopper Option lets you come and go as you please through any or all of the four major Walt Disney World theme parks for each day of your pass. Extra cost on top of the base-price ticket is a flat rate of $45 ($47.93 with tax). This works out to just under $7 per day on a seven-day ticket, but obviously it adds a lot proportionally to the cost of a one-day ticket.

If you think you will only go to one park a day then skip the hopper option.

I can't imagine going to the parks and not having the option to change parks on a particular day in case I get bored (I know, but it happens, even at Disney...and I'm 42!). I've been 17 times and know what I like to do...so maybe that makes it even worse for me. But I've been known to change parks 3 times in one day on a regular basis...so for me, I couldn't even consider a base ticket.

It's a personal choice - you know your family and how you like to vacation. For me, I travel to WDW at least 3-4 times a year and I stay on average 4 nights. Most of the time I am on my own as my DH plays golf during the days. Sometimes I have my teenage boys with me - and they are all over the park hop thing - without it, I doubt they'd go to WDW with me at all. None of us likes to wait in really long lines, and often if the lines are long in one park, changing parks will give you more options.

But again, we go during slower times. And because of my frequent visits, I can be more picky about how long I'll wait for an attraction.

If you are unsure whether you will want to hop, just get base tickets. You can always add hopping at the parks if you decide you want to. Why pre-pay for something you don't know if you want to do?

We have always gotten hoppers and used them, but DD and I went on a budget trip in January with base tickets. I was worried about it, but with careful planning, we didn't feel like we were missing out by not being able to hop.

If you don't want to hop, wait and go to AK during the middle of your trip, around day 4. Stay until early afternoon, when you would finish, and then call it an early day. You could swim or resort hop or downtown disney for that evening. But you may be surprised. They have added quite a bit to AK, and now it can fill a whole day. We always have so much to do at MGM that it takes us a day and a half.

If it is only $45...I would be fine with that!!! =))

it's 45 per person... so 180 dollars between 4 people Not sure if there's a price change between adults and children for adding the hopper option or not, but keep in mind it's not just 45 or 47 whatever with tax total, it's that number per person. It would seem there's a price change since it's 162 difference instead of 180 as I stated...which would be 90 for the adults and 72 for the kids so 45 for adults and 36 for kids.

The thing we like about park hopping is being able to switch parks if one seems extra crowded. One time we were at Epcot - it was packed. We ended up taking a boat over to MGM - which was practically empty!

I like the freedom it gives you.

On our last trip I got TGM subscription for under $20 and we didn't need to hop, due to his least crowded days chart. On our last day, we let everyone vote where to spend the day. They voted MK which was a don't go day according to TGM, and it was so crowded we couldn't move in Toontown. So we left and spent the day at the pool. I say get TGM or a parkhopper option.

I thought about skipping the hopper option for this trip, but I decided to get it. For the relatively small amount of money, we can be flexible with our days. I had visions of, "But, Mom, I'm not tired. Why can't Dad and I walk over to Epcot for the fireworks?" "Because Epcot wasn't our park of the day". This is the only vacation we will take this year, and I want it as low stress as possible. I also subscribed to TGM and am looking forward to giving his advice a shot.

We never park hop, on our AK days we have a nice dinner at the boardwalk or a resort meal or that is the night we do the campfire at FW (where you can stay and see the MK fireworks with music from the marina)
As our children have gotten older MGM now takes a full day - if fantasmic has an early showing then we use that day to play catch up on doing clothes, organizing the room a little, going for a late night dip at the pool

As far as I know, you can't get a 10 day base ticket and then use two of your days in one day. If you want to park hop, you have to get the park hopper.


We always love parkhopping, but we opted to save the money from not buying parkhoppers and used it towards a sit-down meal. Not parkhopping worked out fine for us this past trip, and would most likely purchase this type of ticket again.

Disney thought of this and has taken measures at the turnstyles to prevent guests from doing this.

The computer at the turnstyle will know you have already used a day and will reject the ticket.

They thought of everything when they separated the park hopping option.

Sorry! If you want to hop, you have to buy the hopping option.

We LOVE to hop. We don't even price out the tickets without it so we won't know what we'd 'save'. I couldn't live without that flexibility. I'm on vacation (a pretty expensive one) and I don't want to be limited on where we can go.

I've used it many many times even with little ones.

Make sure you're not also comparing tickets that expire vs tickets that don't expire. No-expire tickets have gotten pricey.

6 days is enough time to visit the parks without hopping. I'd purchase a hopper ticket if you're staying in an EPCOT resort, makes too much sense to go back to your resort for an afternoon pool break and then to EPCOT for dinner and/or Illuminations. Otherwise you can save the money.

We always get the park hopper....It's not that we get "bored" with a park....How can anybody get bored @ DisneyWorld...???? It's that we LOVE the fireworks @ the Magic Kingdom...and we quite often find ourselves back @ MK for the evening fireworks... Or maybe we get a hankerin' for some type of food at Epcot. We just love the freedom that the park-hopper allows us. We are NOT regimental planners...we just like to "go with the flow"...and having the park-hopper ticket option really works for us.....spontaneity ....is big for us.....
(of course, you can absolutely be spontaneous WITHOUT the park-hopper too....not trying to be difficult here.... ...)

Yes it is worth it. For a little amount of money you have the chance to dash into another park at a moments notice. We always park hop. I have had a few friends that didn't and wished they had. Enjoy
