Is Osborne lights worth a three day trip if haven't seen before?

We are already going to Disneyland in November during the holiday season. Now that I see the Osborne lights are ending, considering a short trip to WDW in early December to see them. Is it really worth it?

I know I'm in the minority, but I say no. Unless you just want an excuse to book a trip! ;)

It was for me and my daughter (boys staying home) and our friends. We are all DVC and AP holders but we fly from MA AND CT. We are arriving Dec. 4th doing MVMCP and the 5th Merry and Bright party. We fly home around 4:00 on the 6th.We are SO EXCITED!! We've been every season but Christmas and to see the Osborne lights has always been on my to do list! It's my last opportunity so I took it!!

Yes! We flew down for a three day trip two years ago. One of the main reasons was to see the lights. I loved them so much, we booked a ten day trip the following year.

This year? We had no plans to go......until they announced it was the last year for the lights. Now we are going! :)

We just went to WDW in April and booked a quick December trip when we heard it as the last year of the lights. Last time we went, our middle DS was only 11 months old and I was pregnant with our youngest and didn't know it. They are 4.5 and 3! We are super excited. Doing Legoland, MK and DHS. Shortest trip we've ever had but we will make the most of it!

Yes! I'm so sad this is the last year. I feel so happy we will see it this Nov.

I don't get what the fuss is over the lights. I find it hard to enjoy them packed in like sardines,:scared1: inching along.

If you need an excuse to go, it's a good reason to justify it. :thumbsup2

I hope so because we just booked a three night trip for Dec. to see the lights. We had planned on going longer next year to see them, so when we heard it was the last year we booked a quick trip.

I say no as well. We saw them last December and while the lights were awesome we were literally shoulder-to-shoulder for an hour and a half. Then it took about 30 minutes just to get out that area.

If you like Christmas lights, enjoy driving around etc I would say yes. There is no other Christmas light experience that is so immersive. You're not just standing in front of a building, you are inbetween "buildings" that are fairly close together watching them dance. There are also dozens of hidden mickey's to find as well as other characters. If you stay for every song and take your time looking at the lights, it can easily take over an hour. The crowds tend to be heaviest within the first 30 minutes of the lights being turned on. Though it is kind of neat to see the ceremony, most of the time we wait and go later to avoid the crowd. Early December won't be as crowded anyways, however. You would be inbetween the Thanksgiving and Christmas break crowds. Go during the week though if you can. We have been when it is crowded and we really don't mind; though it takes a little longer to look closely at the lights, your view of them as a whole dancing is not blocked.

I'd say NO. I think it really depends on what Christmas Lights displays you have in your local area.

I was so excited for this and while it is very nice, we left underwhelmed. In my opinion, they are way overhyped.

Plus, I don't think it matters when you go this year, I'm convinced it will be crowded, crowded, crowded.

It's a personal preference. I have always enjoyed Christmas light displays - used to have specific Christmas light runs in my home town with friends. We used to keep up a running commentary (which one year I taped and had typed up by my transcriptionist - it is hysterically funny.) So for me, yes, a trip to see the lights fro the last time would be totally worth it. Fortunately, a previously planned trip is going to catch them in November and I am bringing family who have never seen. Hope DB will shoot better video than I have as the baby will be too young to remember.

For me? yes. I just booked a 5 day 4 night trip in order to see the Lights one last time. My DDIl is coming with me. No one else in the family has any interest, btu I am the Christmas Light firnd. I love Christmas lights, decorations, shows and food. We have been twoce during the Holiday Season and I am the only one who loved CP, the Illuminations Holiday ending, Osbourne Lights, and the endless resort hopping to see the decorations, so for me there was more than the Christmas Party and Holiday Wishes.

We fly in from CT so i have to be abe to justify the cost of the flight when plnning a trip and so we added on one more night.

Is it really worth it?

For me, no. They are underwhelming at best compared to everything else Disney- a pleasant diversion while waiting for Fantasmic. It's just a bunch of Christmas lights set to music. I would not build a trip around it. We will be there in December, and I have allowed 30 minutes for that area. We will be doing a lot of holiday oriented things like MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, and a bunch of others- but these lights aren't worth a big investment of time or effort IMHO. Drive around your neighborhood to see Christmas lights. Buying airline tickets (or driving down) just because it is the last year isn't something I would do- especially just for a short trip. They are WAY overhyped on the boards. Save up some money and make a 6-9 day trip so you have time to enjoy everything at WDW.

It is very cool and I am probably one of the only people who likes SoA even when it's not decorated for the holidays. But I would not consider that short of a trip. Too much work/hassle to me.

My family feels the same way. Won't go though those lights ever again! I went alone the last trip and was glad that little group of whiners went back to the resort ahead of me! Lol!! I think that for me, the extra trip is worth it, but would never suggest it us a must for others.

I happen to be going this year and will get a chance to see them again, but I would never plan a trip just to see them. They're definitely pretty, but I don't think they're totally mind-blowing or anything. If you can swing it and it's not a financial burden in any way, I guess go for it, but I personally wouldn't do it.
