Walking through Target last night I saw the cutest nail polish. I love it! But it is $7 for some nail polish. My problem is it always chips! I bought some nail polish that isn't supposed to chip for 10 days and it chips on day 2. I just don't get it. Is the super cute nail polish worth $7? And how do I get my nail polish to stop chipping? I wear gloves when I do dishes so they aren't soaking in water. I am a stay at home mom though I work on the computer. I have a 6 month old so my nails are kept fairly short. I would say about a quarter inch long. Any suggestions?

I really love OPI, but I only use it on my toes. My pedis look newly done for about 3 week. I don't polish my finger nails because it never lasts no matter what I do.

I've tried OPI, but like all the other polishes I can't get it to stay on my fingernails. I've tried all kinds of manicures w/ different top protective coats, nothing works. :(

Oh I agree with poster!!
I also use a less expenive one, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear (SH has a few, but this is the only one that lasts) Cute colors like OPI, cheaper, and last a long time on the toes. Nothing lasts on my fingers.

I love love love OPI and honestly, it's one of the only brands I use (I also love Essie- but OPI more!).

I keep my nails pretty short for various reasons and find that if I do a full blown "manicure" on my nails, they won't chip for awhile. I start with a base OPI coat (can't remember their names but they're easy to figure out once you're looking at the store) and let that dry completely. Then I put 2 coats of my OPI color on. Let that dry entirely. Finally, I put on a top coat and again, let that dry. It takes A LOT of time but when I do this my nails last for at least a week.

I just put the color on my toes and it will last for a good 3-4 weeks.

I used to get my nails done a lot at the salon and the lady who did them said she thought OPI was the best.

Opi really really works on my toes, does fine on my nails if I wear gloves to wash dishes. Nothing stays unless I use those gloves.

We are currently on vacation. We have gone snorkeling, use the pool and beach on a daily basis and my OPI nail polish is still looking great on my feet. Now, the nail polish on my hands, same OPI nail color, chipped after three days. Can't get my manicure too last, no matter what I do. But, my pedis always last .

I had my nails last the entire time I was on vacation. What do you all do that they chip so easily?

Believe it or not my cheap Jordana nail polish does not chip on me, I've been wearing my crazy yellow and purple nails since (Go Lakers!:lmao:) last Thursday, and they are still looking good today. And yeah I do house work.

That's why it lasted, you were on vacation! Not washing dishes, cleaning counter tops and scrubbing the tub, etc! ;)

I love OPI but only bother to do my toes.

LOVE OPI!!!! Had a manicure with 'Ate Berries in the Canaries' last Friday and it is still perfect!!:confused3

I only get pedi's, and always use OPI on my toes. A pedi can last me three or four weeks with no chipping!

Mani's, I never get them. I'm a preschool teacher, so my hands are always dirty, covered with paint, sand, etc. and I wash them a zillion times a day!

LOVE OPI! Only polish I buy AND I take my own OPI to the salon.

OPI are on sale often at ULTA and SEPHORA, so if you are not in a hurry you can wait and check their flyers. Last time I bought OPI, it was buy 2 get 2 FREE! Now they were $8.00 each but getting 4 for $16.00 was soooo worth it!

I also only use OPI on my toes. For my fingernails, I get a full manicure BUT I just have them BUFFED. They are shining/sparkling all the time. I do not want any polish on my fingernails.

Same here. By day 2, at least one will chip. I think sometimes it might have to do with peeling nails.

My pedicures almost never chip, no matter how long I keep the polish on (sometimes way too long after my toenails are growing out...clip the nails, keep the polish).

And I almost always use OPI, because that's what the salon uses, so I don't find it any better than others. I did use a Sally Hansen that I brought with me last time because I liked the color, and that too chipped Day 2.

OPI is pretty good. It lasts longer (on my toes) than the drugstore stuff like Revlon. I don't paint my fingernails at all so I can't comment on that. I like the consistancy of OPI polish--it goes on well without a lot of bleeding and getting all over the place.

I recently bought a bottle of the China Glaze brand and, while it had a thinner consistancy than OPI, it went on beautifully and seems to be holding up better. That brand just didn't have the choice of colors that OPI had.

I just read a review on a new Sally Hansen polish called "Total Salon Manicure" or something like that and it lasted just as long as salon brands (OPI, Essie, China Glaze). But when I checked the price at Target, CVS, it was $7.99 so no deal there.

I'm wearing 'pink flamingo' on my toes = three weeks! (my mani lasted a week). OPI is the best! I love the new light pinks.

Yes, yes, and yes! I love OPI! Nothing lasts on my nails as long as OPI and it goes on super smooth. I also use inm Out the Door top coat.

I like OPI and agree that is does last longr than most, especially on the toes. Nails, however, are another story. Nothing lasts on mine more than 3 days or so. I can't stand even the slightest chip, so if it can't be repaired, I remove the polish. For those of you who say is lasts long on the fingers, do you mean until it looks terrible and you take it off, or is it still perfect? Also, do you have fake nails?

Just my opinion, but don't waste your money on the Sally Hansen Total Salon Manicure. I picked up a bottle after reading about it in Self Magazine. HATED IT! It went on very thick (causing it to bleed out the edges), did not have a good shine to it, and was murder trying to remove. I think I used 1/4 of a bottle of nail polish remover to get it off

Like a previous poster, I can get the OPI to stay a while if I use a base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat. The key being to let each coat dry completely before applying the next. Takes a while - but works :thumbsup2

Hope that helps,
Laura
