We have now booked and paid for 3 weeks in POR, 2 adults and our 3 girls, 8 , 5 & 3

Now that I have paid for it, via an agent im getting cold feet so to say in that I cant help thinking we shud be staying on int drive, say the quality inn plaza and it would cost us $2300 dollars less.

we are coming from the uk, and had a great time with four of us in the qlality inn plaza 5 yrs ago.

On site sounds brilliant but I cant help feeling im wasting money when the difference saved could be spent on so many things.

The difference of $2300 is also aftre car costs for the 3 weeks.

PLease Please can I have the benefit of some of youe experince and advice

Cheers

Scouse:rolleyes:

What kind of room rate did you get? Will you be buying an AP? The rates out right now for the moderate is $74.00 a night (from 4-?-04 to 7-4-04. That comes up to $1554.00 for 21 days and with tax it would only be $1864.80 in American dollars. Who is your travel agent? Maybe they could try to get you a better rate.

I love staying on-site at the resorts at WDW because of the ambiance. You are immersed in the magic 24 hours a day. The bus service is outstanding and you don't have to find your way back to the motel/resort after staying in the parks for hours and being very tired. You can have your merchandise delivered to your room and not have to carry it around with you. It's very safe too.

Hey - you deserve this! Staying onsite is so much fun - 24/7! Do it this time, and if you still feel you would be more comfortable off site, then you can do that next trip. But if you never stay on site - you'll always wonder!

We've stayed deluxe and value, and I say if it is within your budget - treat yourself. You won't be sorry!

Yes, ::yes:: Staying on site is a totally different trip, once you have stayed on site you may never stay off-site again. A compromise would be stay off-site for a week then move to POR. If you plan on going to US or SeaWorld you could do this during your first week and say at a Resort near them.
Have a Great Trip.

Definately give us more information. When are you going?? There are nice discounts for the early summer that just became available Tuesday. The late summer (after July 5th) discounts are still to come. Check out some of the discounts!!! It will save you tons of $$$, and you'll be so glad to be onsite!!! I would think that for your long of a trip the AP would be perfect. You only need one for your family to book the discounted room. Your other family members can use regular park admission. Good luck!!! Have fun at POR!!

Welcome to the Dis Scousemouse:earsboy: Staying on-site is definitely fun. Will you be taking advantage of any of the benefits of staying on-site such as EMH, room charges, or even the free parking? Many of us Yanks don't stay three weeks at a time, so when you illustrate $2300 difference:earseek: I have to admit that is something to consider. That's a lot in additional treats, souvenirs, experiences, beer:o

Thanks for your replies amending the booking for room discounts is to late because we have paid for the holiday in full via the travel agent.

we are travelling from UK with virgin holidays and I guess I am now looking at all the alternatives now,,,crazy i know!!

On site does really appeal because although last time we stayed off and it was great. experiencing the full site does sound good

I am so excited about going i just want to ensure we are gona spend the money with value and not fall into a trap of paying over the odds just because were in disney resort

any comments would be appreciated

You will enjoy onsight it is just that much nicer, you dont have to worry about renting a car or anything, its all provided and unlike other hotels offsite disney really makes you feel like you are on vacation, it is a bit hard to explain but the service at a disney hotel from my experience has been 10x better than any other hotel I have ever stayed in. To me its worth the extra money.

Scouse,

If you've paid in full and can't cancel then I guess you must be going in the next eight weeks so stop worrying about it. What's done is done!! Now get focussed on getting the most enjoyment from your vacation.

If you constantly question whether you could have gotten a better deal you will drive yourself insane and will ruin the holiday experience for yourself and your family.

Have a good one.

Is it a value? No.

Is it worth it? Absolutely.

For us, whether to stay on site is never an issue. If we cannot afford to stay where we want, we don't go. I know others will disagree and tell you they can take two off-site trips for the cost of one on-site trip. That's true. But for us, it is a totally different trip to stay in a Disney resort.
