I have a pretty big stroller, its the kind that the infant carrier attaches on too. I think its called a Graco Quatrro or something like that. Although i no longer have an infant we still use it for our 2 year old. Is it realistic to take such a big stroller on the busses that transport us to the parks? How big r these buses? our stroller is prettybig even folded up, I cant imagine having room on the bus for it but I dont want to take just an umbrella stroller cuz I love the bottom of my stroller, i can put lots of stuff in it.

We always take a lighter (but not tiny) umbrella type stroller as it does need to folded up quite often. You do get some with big baskets under them but I know what you mean about it being handy. I did see people with larger strollers so it is do-able but might be worth thinking about a smaller one if you have one. Maybe one of the bag type thing that attaches would give you the storare you are looking for?

We just returned from our trip. We spent 1 wk at Disney. We did not stay on property...rented a house in Davenport, but we did have to ride the trams from the parking lot daily. We took our In Step Double Jogger for 2 DSs (5 yrs & 13 mos). It was a huge pain, but we were glad we took it....plenty of storage and comfortable for kids to nap it. My DH had an entire tram row to himself w/ the stroller b/c it was big, but it fit. No problems. If we had stayed on resort, we would have travelled on the busses w/ it as well! **FYI if you ride the monorail, you do not have to collapse the stroller down!

I wish I could put my 8 year old in a stroller. Then I won't hear "My legs are tired". I'd almost do it too, if I knew people wouldn't think we were total weirdos! ;)

Remember you would have to hold it.. and there my be times where you my not get a seat on the bus.

I wont bring big one. Last year I left my graco double stroller home and we bought 2 chico umbrella strollers. They were so easy to fold up and get off and on the bus with.

if you are ridin the bus
take a small one!
ours was to large and people gave us horrible looks
and sounds as they had to seeming wait on us!
I would buy a small one and wear a back pack
or get on a stroller swap:surfweb:

I would DEFINATELY suggest not taking it. Invest in a nice Maclaren or something similar that is sturdy but will fold up like an umbrella stroller. As someone else mentioned, there will be PLENTY of times (especially at night) that you will be lucky to get a seat, let alone room for your stroller...which means you'll have to keep waiting for a bus until there is room for both.

We always took a Chico umbrella stroller which had a small basket on the bottom and a sun canopy. I was so glad every time we got on the bus with our small folded stroller and watched other people struggling with ginormous strollers.

HAHAHA!! I rode in the double rental stroller 3 years ago when I was pregnant because I almost passed out. I got some weird looks and then when I got out at return the CM's were in shock that I fit into it or something.

My cousin brought her stroller just like your describing and she hated lugging it on and off the bus and there was hardly any room for it anywhere especially when those buses get overcrowded.

We are using a Graco ipo stroller. They run about 70-80 and hold up to 50-55lbs. We got two for a 2yr and a 5yr. We have taken them off sidewalks, in bark and gravel. We love these strollers. They recline and had baskets underneath.

We took our Graco Quatro Tour Duo (double stroller) and didn't have a problem with it. It was nice to have the bigger stroller to store our things in. Plus the kids took great naps in it because that was what they were used to. It was also nice to have all the cup holders and other little compartments to store things in. As far as riding on the busses goes, we just made sure it was closed up before the bus came, and my dh would ask the driver to open the back door and he would stand near the doorway with it. If it was a full bus, he just stood by the driver with it. Never had any issues with it, no dirty looks or comments, and we definatly didn't have to wait for a different bus because of our stroller.
We do have a Mac Quest as well, and I do love this stroller, but I don't think I could use it for a trip to Disney. There just isn't enough storage space on it, and hanging stuff off the handles makes it incredibly tippy.

The last 4yrs we have taken a single jogger. Never been a prob. We always have it folded up when the bus comes. If there is room, dh sits where a scooter/wheelchair would go. There is a spot just big enough for it to slide into. If no seat is available he just props it next to him & holds it up.

We stay onsite & take disney transportation everywhere. We have never had to wait for another bus because the stroller was to big to fit. Never had any nasty looks or comments (that I noticed anyway).

I say take what you know you like & are comfortable with. You will only be on the bus for short periods at a time. Have a great trip!!

I have a Graco Metrolite and I am not taking it because I am worried it is too large. We bought Maclaren Volo, I have been using it here and there and I love it. Yes there is more storage with the Metrolite, but I don't want the hassle of it taking up soo much room.

I would really think about it. I have a Chicco C5 which has a nice storage basket, reclines and has a sun canopy. It folds like an umbrella, has a side carrying handle and is lightweight. I am taking that. Last time I had a sit/stand since we had a 15 mth old and 4 yr old. For the most part it was ok. One time the bus was really crowded and a lady had her knee in the aisle and I accidently bumped it with the stroller. Oh..did she complain to her friend! Well keep your flipping legs in front of your seat lady! I did find I had to be really careful going down the aisle. If I had a seat (and most of the time we did) then it was no problem. It was this one time when we had to stand that it was an issue.
I think that a lighter but nice umbrella style stroller would be a good investment for you anyways. You will find yourself using your Graco less and less.
Just something to think about

I agree that it would be wise to invest in a good quality umbrella stroller. I HATE, big bus sized strollers. Even our full size Combi is only 12lbs. Once we got a Macleren for our first Disney trip, we never went back to the Combi. (That said, I prefer a sling over any stroller but that's another topic).
Make your life easier. A nice umbrella stroller is a good investmet.

We used our graco quatro last year and never had a problem, lots of them on the buses....bring what your child is comfy in or you may wind up regretting it with a cranky uncomfortable child.

i would recommend taking a lighter stroller. if you have to lift it and break it down for transportation, it will be more difficult with a larger stroller.

I did see a couple have to wait for another bus last year because their stroller was large (double) and the bus was almost full (at that point standing room only after fireworks). So it does happen. At 10 or 11 at night with cranky kids this is a BIG inconvenience. I also saw people fighting with thier large strollers down the aisle and I was so happy we brought our umbrella stroller (it did tilt in back for naps and had storage basket underneath).
It really is up to you and what you feel would work out best for your family.

My 2 year does fine in his umbrella and it saves my husband's back. The dirty looks I would have gotten would have been from him if I had anything any bigger.:)
