Is my only option a villa?

When I've gone with my children they were younger and I always went with XH. Last trip I went with just the children.

Now my kids are older 13 DS and 7 DD (14 and 8 by the next trip) and I am with my SO. We live together and everything is great.

My dilemma is the rooms at CBR (or any moderate) don't leave much room for privacy. Undressing, showering, getting dressed. There's not much wiggle room. With him trying to get dressed while DD is in the room, with just the curtain, it can get risky. Kids forget, walk over there, they can see through the curtain. Also with me getting dressed or changing with DS right there.

Is my only option a one bedroom villa? They are very pricey but I've thought about renting points either through this site or another site I saw posted on DVC rental forum.

Right now I'm thinking BCV for the proximity to Epcot and MK. I love AKV but it's so far from our two favorite parks. Or BLV.

SO has only been to Disney once aobut 10 years ago and stayed off site. He has no clue on much but is excited to start planning this trip. And of course most of the planning is on me.

A cabin at fw or a family suite at Aoa or all star music is also an option. Also I think I remember hearing that one of the moderates had a sliding door instead of a curtain at the vanity area but I can't think of which one that is.

We just change in the bathroom. Is it ideal? No not really. It's tight in there and not the greatest thing in the world. But I am not spending thousands more for vacation to avoid it. Our kids are 16 and 9 and Dh is dd's stepdad (has been since she was 3). Again, it's not ideal but we've never let it stop us from booking a moderate room. CSR is another option with the sliding door. Also it's pretty much a given in my family that everyones privacy is to be respected and if the curtain is closed, leave it closed. But we have a strict "knock before you enter" rule at home as well and I think everyone is just used to respecting eachothers boundaries.

Values have the family suites. The only moderate with a little more privacy is CSR. All rooms have the sliding door between the sink area & bedroom. Also, CSR has Jr Suites which are 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms. FW has the cabins with 2 rooms, and WL has Deluxe Rooms that have a French door between the bedroom & LR area.

The 1 BR villas are great, and renting points can really save money. Just be aware that BCV are difficult to get because there are so few of them & are very popular among DVC owners. The 1BR at BLT & Kidani have 2 bathrooms, where the others only have 1, that is something to consider too.

I agree with the PPs that there are definitely less expensive options available to you than a villa.

As mentioned, the mods have either a curtain or door that separates the sink area from the main room. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Regarding your choice of CBR, however: I'd be inclined to choose a different mod, since CBR only has double beds and all of the others have queen size beds. I think your DD and DS might appreciate a larger bed.

A family suite at either ASMu or AoA might be better. The kids could each have their own bed, you and your SO would have a bedroom, and there would be 2 bathrooms. Seems like the ideal situation to me. (And ASMu would definitely be a cheaper solution than a 1 bedroom villa).

You could also look into the cabins or the Jr. Suites at CSR.

I own at BCV and if price is a factor, I would skip the one bedroom. You are going to get one bed, one bathroom, one sleeper sofa that isn't all that comfortable. You can have just as much privacy in a hotel room. When I go with my best friends instead of family, we change in the bathroom whether we are staying in a Disney hotel or a DVC unit.

Now if you want a one bedroom for the extra space, the kitchen, etc. then go for it. But you might want to look at renting a unit at BLT or AKV where you get an extra bathroom and a sleeper chair so that you get separate sleeping for the kids. BCV is great for Epcot but AKV is my favorite DVC resort and it's not "too far" to the parks.

I really don't want to do a value resort but I will look into the family suite.

CSR is definitely an option. We almost stayed there last trip because of the Queen beds. I didn't know they had a sliding door.

AKV 1 bedroom suite is less than BCV so it is an option. I've ALWAYS loved AKV but people always say it takes forever to get to MK and Epcot. I will look into the price differences especially now that I know it has an extra bathroom and a sleeper chair.

Price is and isn't a factor. We can afford for the villa if we had to but if there are cheaper options that fit into our needs we will definitely go that route. Who doesn't like to save money?!?!?!

When we went in 2008 we stayed in a two bedroom condo at Silver Lake Resort. It was lovely having the extra space and the kitchen. But if it means spending 2K more on Disney property....it won't be as lovely. :scared:

If you're going the AKV route make sure you look at Kidani 1Br - only those have 2 bathrooms in a 1BR. Jambo 1BR only have 1 bathroom. If that's important to you! They both have the extra sleeper chair EXCEPT the Jambo value 1BR, that does not.

The door between the sleeping area and sink area at CSR is definitely a step up from the curtains. And one of the reasons we are booked at CSR again for this fall.:thumbsup2

One thing the family suites will give you is 2 bathrooms, if that is important to you.

We went with the ASMU Family Suites this upcoming trip. We really needed 2 bathrooms now and the extra space.

My husband and I will have the queen bed in the bedroom, a bathroom and a TV to ourselves.

The kids will have the room with the pull out furniture that is supposed to be comfy, a bathroom and a TV for themselves. They'll probably still argue over it but we'll figure that out since it's nothing new.

I know you said you don't want to stay value but it's an economical choice and has plenty of sleeping space for your kids.

We did CSR once and enjoyed it but since it only has one bathroom, it doesn't work for us anymore. It has the sliding door in the vanity area. The pool there is amazing. They also have the queen beds.

POR and POFQ have queen beds and great pools but they have the curtains instead of the sliding door in the bathroom area.

CBR has only double beds and the curtains. Oh and the pool is really fun there too.

Choosing my resort is part of the fun of the trip. Have fun deciding.

We're pretty sure about CSR. The sliding door and queen beds is definitely a factor

SO said it was no big deal getting changed in the bathroom. Privacy won't be a problem. The kids take showers at night. We shower in the morning. One bathroom is perfectly fine. We always get up first and get dressed and then wake them up on regular days home so that's what we will do while in Disney also. That's what I've always done anyway. .

I just over think things and get worried. He told me that there is no need to spend a few extra thousand bucks for a bedroom when we will be perfectly fine in a regular room. I showed him pics of CSR and he really liked it.
