After looking at the SOG Webiste, I still can't tell if my dad would be eligable to stay there for our wedding in Sept. Here's his info in case someone could clear this up for me:

he pushed his draft for vietnam since he knew he was gonna get called anyway
spent '64-66 at Abdereen in Maryland
never went overseas as the lady in charge of his group wouldn't let anyone go. she must have known something about someone up top.
was honorably discharged
doesn't get any benefits from his time

in case it helps his cause:
has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 30 or so years
is a chief at the county fire academy for the past 20 or so years
is an all around good guy :earboy2:

i don't think he'd be eligable, but i wanted to check here to see if anyone might know.
thanks!

It doesn't sound like he'd be eligible. When I called to see if my bf was eligible the lady told me that he had to either be "active military" or "retired with pension" so if your dad is none of those, then he wouldn't be eligible.

bUt, I'd suggest calling SOG and asking them directly. That's what I did because I was unsure as well. I thought bf might have been eligible but turns out he wasn't.

Good luck!

Not eligible. Must be active, reserves, retired or 100% disabled.

or widow. My mom is a widow with her military ID card. That card shows her status as such. She is eligible for stays there. Most people that qualify to stay will have some sort of military ID card.

Or a Dept of Defense employee.
