Is Mousekeeping different at each resort?

To the best of my knowledge, it works the same everywhere.

There is a schedule for washing the comforters, but nobody holds to it. They're pulled when someone complains or the maid sees something gross and pulls it herself.

I understand WDW trying to conserve resouces, but if I am paying $350+ a night, I would like to know that everything is clean.

Good point! I'm all for the washed per guest duvets and the blanket wrapped in sheets. It can't be that hard/expensive to add a duvet washing.

If anyone is really grossed out by hotel cleanliness, don't watch Ocean's 13.

thanks for the warning, i'll avoid it.....over the years, my threshold level for getting grossed out in hotels has steadily decreased...
carpets especially disgust me...
imagine my joy when we stayed at a hotel recently that had wall to wall marble instead of carpets.....wow...no hidden germy thingies hiding in the carpet threads.....it was the first time in a long time i felt relatively comfortable in a hotel...i still wouldn't walk barefoot but at least i wasn't grossed out...

the last few times we've stayed at the GF RPC. I don't recall whether the other deluxes had that or not.

Are the beds double sheeted with the blanket in between, if so all GF rooms are that way. I thought you meant the bedspread/comforter was a duvet.

Disney double sheets their beds, a blanket between two sheets at the Grand Floridian and all concierge level rooms elsewhere. However at this time, they do not have duvet covers, for the comforters. They have bedspreads and comforters that are very heavy and therefore are not washed after each guest.

Blankets and sheets are changed between guests, but No comforters/bedspreads are not.

Many hotels such as Hampton Inn and Marriot are going to a comforter with a duvet cover, that the cover can easily be removed and washed. Washing comforters is not so easy and it damages them.

I have not stayed in the new rooms at the Contemporary but just looking at the photos it appears that might be a duvet cover, can any that has stayed there confirm. Was it a comforter or a comforter enclosed in a duvet?

But all the other resorts have comforters that have a pattern on them and are very heavy and they do not wash them but once a month.

My husband drives me crazy, the first thing he does is flop on the bedspread with shoes on and grab the remote, so besides everything else on the bedspread, he's putting whats on his shoes on it too. He'd never do that at home... so I have to start out vacations being mad at him lol - now I think he does it on purpose to get on my nerves.

Okay, I never saw the 20/20 specials that everyone keeps talking about, but I thought, of course they wash the comforter. The ones at AsMo are paper thin, so they could easily fit into a washer. I thought no big deal b/c everything else you could wipe or spray with germ killing products. Ewww... I sat/laid on those things... I feel so dirty!

My experience with the Swan I know my bedspread it always sparkling white but I'm sure with the help of bleach. They have the Heavenly Beds and everything is white so at least I've never seen stains and if I did I would promptly call housekeeping. I do know there is a card in the room that explains how often bedding is changed.

When I stayed at the Westin in Cancun we also had the Heavenly Beds with the white duvet that was changed between customers. I would always see fresh ones hanging on the carts. I also loves that the rooms were ceramic tiled instead of carpeted. The maid would wipe down our floor each day with some cleaning solution. Made me feel good as I am a germ freak too. Too bad Disney doesnt do away with carpets. They are nastier than the bedspreads IMHO

Well, I hate to say it but I wouldn't worry too much about the bedspread/comforter...you can remove it from the bed & at the very least, at least in DW, they are washed monthly...but what about the MATTRESS???? Take a guess at how often they are changed!! Nope, I would say that if you are germ-a-phobic, don't stay in any hotel, not even DW!!

But with the mattress at least you don't directly touch it and other guests haven't either, whereas that bread-spread people lay directly on and stuff.

I don't think people should keep from going because of it though. They should just go, take it off, and request whatever additional linens they want.

My information jives with Sammie's on this -- 1x per month or upon request.

I worry a LOT less about the comfortable.. which I sleep UNDER ... than all the different surfaces, railings, ride vehicles, Buzz Lightyear guns, etc.. that I touch in the parks each day.

I hate to say this, but I do NOT think they change out blankets between guests. I think it is just sheets. I think the blankets are on the same rotation as the bedspreads. We have called to request a fresh blanket at Pop because DH said it smelled funny. A manager guy brought the clean one and asked me what was wrong with the other one. I just said it smelled funny.

I always fold the bedspread back and look VERY carefully for stains or whatever on the underside. Since the back is solid you can see stains much better than you can on the printed side. Then we leave it folded down to the foot of the bed whenever we are in the room. I wipe down the bathroom, the door knobs, the remote, etc. with Clorox wipes and we try not to walk barefoot in the room - socks or flip flops are encouraged.

I agree. I travel for work almost weekly and don't take any special precautions in hotels and have never had a problem. I noticed more and more hotels are getting rid of comforters or spreads and just putting a small decorative cover over the bottom of the bed.

I did catch ringworm (fungus) on my arm at WDW last summer. I firmly believe that I caught it off a bus pole. It appeared after I rode the bus from MK standing up with my arm wrapped around the pole. The spot on my arm was exactly where it touched the pole.

Yep, the food protection I agree with too.

I also agree that I don't think the blankets are changed.

Not to mention the rest of the microscopic zoo that inhabits every place on earth, especially human bedrooms. Hey, look at the bright side, you'll never really be lonely in this life!

Of course, nobody's even touched on the subject of all the other nasty stuff in hotel rooms. Watch CSI a few times. Lots of different stuff glows in UV light. How the **** did they get *** on the ceiling?

I'll take the dust mites anyday over that other stuff you mentioned (which is all that came to mind while reading this thread)

I was talling my hubby about the comforters not being washed. He said, well why cant we wash it when we get there. Take it to the laundry room and wash it ourselves.

As far as whether mousekeeping is different for each resort, they do have a different schedule for changing sheets during a guest's stay. I was shocked to be told that at the value resorts, its every 6 days while at the GF it's every day unless a guest requests less service. As far as the spreads, it's only once a month - apparently each mousekeeper will do a more thorough cleaning of each room based on a schedule including changing the spread. I was told they clean 16 rooms a day at the value resorts which sounds like being spread too thin ( no pun intended).---Kathy

I was told the mousekeepers change the sheets every 3 days at the values and mods unless you request that they be changed more often.
I guess it all depends on who you ask.

My sheets are changed once a week at home so 6 days is not unreasonable.
