I am having trouble booking the Value Resorts for the time frame I want
(Feb. 2 - 8)with the discount but all of the Moderates are available, is it worth the 380 more to stay there? I have only stayed at Moderates, no kids just us two adults in are 30's.

Thanks!!!

CSR is! They have a spa, salon and fitness center. Two great restaurants and 3 lounges. The newest one hasn't opened yet but it is supposed to have live entertainment as well.

My answer is also yes! With all mods, you get a refrigerator and coffee maker. There are more amenities in general at the mods. CSR has the extras mentioned above, POFQ and POR have the boat to DTD, horse carriage rides, and live entertainment, not familiar with CBR, but definitely yes!

I'm going the opposite and saying NO! $380 more for a mod that offers a slightly bigger room for 2 adults only is not worth it IMO. If there was 1 or 2 kids i'd say it may be worth it, but i'd still be leaning towards no.

If you're going to pay that much more, i'd just go full blown and go AKL or WL for a few dollars above that. With a discount, you should be able to get AKL or WL for about $180 or so a night (20% discount - not sure what it currently is now).

Of course, if you like the amenities of a spa and you actually plan to use that service, then CSR would be great. For $380 more, i'd bypass a mod and go straight to a Deluxe. Just my opinion.

My first trip to WDW was in a moderate...and I loved it. I really want to try all the resorts at WDW. But....unless you avail yourself of all those extra amenities, the extra cost isn't going to be worth it. The moderate rooms are a small bit larger but not enough to make a huge difference. They do have the privacy curtains whereas the values don't. I seldom eat at the table service restuarants at the moderates. I usually grab a quick breakfast in the food court and eat elsewhere at night.
I have yet to use a hot tub/spa more than once. I did use one but hated sharing it with people I didn't know or having kids jumping in and out of it.
If you want pool slides, table service restaurants, and a bit more as far as recreational amenities, then pay for the moderate.
I love POP...I don't care about the lack of slides at the pools. I don't care about hot tubs (as aleady mentioned), love the food court for quick meals. I bring a curtain that I put up myself each time I stay there. I don't use a fridge unless I'm in my DVC villa.

I think it would depend on how much time you plan on spending at the resort. If you don't plan on spending much time at the resort, maybe the $380 would be better spent on something like eating out. We always take one day off and just hang around the resort, so for me a moderate would be worth it. While there is nothing wrong with the values, for me the moderates are more relaxing with much better landscaping and hot tubs. I have kids, so a pool with a slide is important, but probably not important to you.

Really depends I guess. To us, no, the mods are not worth it. But then again, we use the room pretty much to sleep in, and that's about it. This past year, we stayed at both CBR and All Star Movies. Considering we payed nearly twice the amount for CBR, I don't think I would do it again. In fact, our DD, 5 years old, preferred Movies due to the theming. CBR was nice, but just way to large, and a pain to get around in. The room differences were minimal for the cost.

For our trip next April, we already have POP booked, and with the money we'll save on the room, we have a lot of extra stuff planned.

I also say "NO". I don't think a moderate is worth $60 more per night.

"Worth it" depends on how much money you have and how much you like the thing you're purchasing. Hard for us to judge that.

That said, I don't see a huge difference between Values and Mods. If the $380 means something to you, I'd skip the Mod. You can add a fridge to your Value room for a lot less and the difference in the size of the room won't matter much to two adults.

Honestly one of my favorite resorts is POP Century. I personally wouldn't spend the extra 380. If you have kids going with you I think they would love the value resorts more b/c it has more of a Disney feel to it and all the big characters. That's just my personal opinion though.

IMO - if you have kids...yes. Pop was TOOOO small for us, our child and all the "accessories" (stroller, extra suitcase, etc). We switched to CSR after 2 nights at Pop.

If its just 2 adults - I say stay where you are. When we didn't have kids we stayed at the All Stars just fine. It wasn't our fave...still longed for the relaxation of the mods, but we got by fine space wise..

Everyone has their own opinion about this. Mine is - YES!!! The mods are truly gorgeous. While the values are cute, the mods are sooo pretty and peaceful. It really makes MY vacation so much more special to stay in such beautiful resorts!:thumbsup2

I also think "YES"
I love the atmosphere of the moderates, and would still enjoy them even if we did not have the kids. Alot of time adults notice more than the kids anyway.
The moderates are so lovely, and I would not think twice about spending the $380, and my thrifty DH agrees.

I believe it is worth it for the theming and ambiance. Also, call the reservation line! :thumbsup2 I THINK that if there are no values available for your trip dates, that WDW will upgrade you to a mod for no additional cost. Anyway, it can't hurt to ask!

No, in my opinion. Although, I loved Port Orleans, I would probably always stay in a value, unless I just had extra money to burn. :rotfl: We spend such little time in the room, that our hotel is simply a place to crash until we wake up early the next day to hit the parks. Just depends on how much time you plan on spending there.

If my DH was going with me, I'd say YES. DD7 and I went last year and stayed at ASMo. She loved it but to me the room was too small. I ended up leaving the bathroom door open because I just could not manuver with it shut! I'm 5' and about average weight so not big by any means!

I also travel a bit for work and have become a bit spoiled. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the resort as a whole and enjoyed the themeing much more than expected. For DD and I it was fine however I just do not see how my DH would have "fit" in the room. You may get the room size specs showing values and mods very close but the bathroom is just way too tiny for me. There is also very little counter space.

I've also stayed at CBR, CSR, Dolphin and Grand Floridian. CSR is my favorite so far. GF was beautiful of course but way too much money and IMO just not worth the pricetag.

I had the option of ASMu at $49 or a moderate at $99. We opted for ASMu. It's been a while since we've stayed at a value other than for one night. It's just hubby and myself so I'm hoping we'll fit. We have several other vacations booked and I thought it would be better to save the money on this one since I know this will be a clean $49 room. We're going for seven nights 1/06-1/13.
