Thinking of splurging for my 50th in 2012 or 2013 (I/m Dec 28th and I want to go in the summer). We already have Aug 2011 booked but was wondering if I should bank the points and go for a GV MK view in the summer of 2013 or if I should go for our regular 2BR MK view and go in 2012 as well.

It is up to you- in a GV you will be guarenteed a high floor (the top 2) and the huge living room windows look amazing (but I haven't stayed there). In a 2 bedroom you could be as low as floor 3 for your points so it is up to you on what you want the most.

I will say this if you have never experieced MK view from BLT than you need to do it atleast once. We did one back in April during my engagment trip and it was awesome. However now that ive done it once i seriously doubt i will do it again as its just too many points and those can be well spent elsewhere.

I agree. It is a must at least once. We did it in Oct/Nov and it was worth the experience. But this next trip we have a LV booked. Enjoy no matter what you decide.

"Tried" to do it once. Got a third floor room. Will never waste the points again!

this is just personal experience, when ever and where ever it is always better to have a great veiw.
it adds so much to the experience and hey you only live once.

I would (as others have said) try it once (maybe not spend the points on a GV, but on another room type) to see what you think.

With a GV you're at least guaranteed an amazing view because you're on the top two floors. No worries about low floors. However, that's a huge point premium.

I'd try for a 1BR or 2BR and request a high floor and see what happens. We own at BLT but don't plan on using the MK views except for when there's something unqiue at MK (i.e. Christmas castle lights).

But, we're also not frequently in the room - we're more often out and about. Unless MK is open late (we have a 4 year old), we'd not be able to take advantage of the view from our room (which would mostly be for fireworks and nighttime lighting).

I would say, watching the nighttime entertainment from a GV with those 2 story windows would be amazing though. Just need to add on about 500 pts. :rotfl:

I think it also depends on when you arrive. When we got stuck with the third floor MKV room, we arrived late at night (11:00 PM) and were told that there were no other MKV rooms available (I had requested a high floor). They did say I could check back later during our stay, but I was not about to pack up all of our stuff just to switch rooms. In the end, MS made up for us getting such a bad MKV room, so I am not bitter about it. I just refuse to bet that many points on the luck of the draw.

It was definitely worth it for our trip this past summer with our 9 month old DD.

A unique experience to say the least. Definitely worth it at least once if not everytime.

Since it's a GV and guaranteed you're going to be at the top then I'd say yes, it's worth trying. Any other rooms I'm very torn on since you can end up on low floors. Those views are not worth it.

When I was placed on the 4th floor studio as far towards the CR as you can get I checked in at 10:30am. I also was told there were no other MK rooms available.

Ditto - it is a nice view and kinda special to look out at the castle. So I also say do it at least once.

I don't think it is worth it. I think the view of the parking lot below spoils the view. If you are flexible, you should be able to get a room with a good view on a high floor, try to check in early and offer to wait until later for the room if you can get something closer to what you want. Know what you want when you check in by studying up on the BLT views thread!

My MK room was third floor, below the monorail and with a perfect view of the parking lot. My Lake View rooms have been so much better. I will never spend points on MK view again. It's too many points to take a chance on getting the parking lot view that is passed off as MK view.

Even with a high MKV room, you are going to see a lot of parking lot - we were in room 7716 on th 7th floor and could see ample parking lot - of course a bit of zoom and cropping and the pictures all look like you are on top of Space Mt! Of course the higher up, the more the parking lot is out of your direct line of sight.

It is definitely a neat thing to do once, but truth be told, it's more a neat extra than something you really need. Viewing the fireworks from the Top of the World is even better than the best room IMHO, so I would not fret.

Next time, I'd most likely go for a Lake or even Standard view. The location still can't be beat for MK.

We stayed with a MK view in September and were on the 7th floor. Our DD was 2.5 and loved watching the fireworks from the balcony and went to bed right after... very handy with a little one. I don't know that we would book the MK many times... but it was fun to do this time.

I am not sure if you have already been there, but I met a friend at BLT while I was down there on a business trip and the lounge on the top of the BLT offers obviously the best view. With staying at BLT you could go there everynight if you wanted. I would save the points and just "frequently" visit the lounge. You can enjoy a drink and relax, they have very comfortable chairs.

I have stayed at bay lake towers three times, the first with a magic kingdom view and the past two week the lake view. I prefer the Magic Kingdom view. Nothing like watching Astro Orbiter spin around or watching the fireworks from your room!

My DD has been trying to convince me to reserve a MK view for one of our trips. I have not agreed because it is so many more points. I am still torn. There are definitely good arguments for and against it...

Based on the availability for Dec '11, I'd say a lot of people feel it's worth it. I called at 9am 11 months out for early Dec and all the MK view rooms were already gone for the first part of our 3 day stay. I ended up booking the last standard view studio - figured I might as well save points if I don't get the view - but waitlisted for the MK view which I would hope would come through.
