Is May a good time for Disney?

I see that May is one of the more inexpensive times to visit Disney. Does anyone know if this is a good time to go or if there are certain weeks we should avoid during May? I know it's getting hot in May, but hey, isn't that the point of going on a pre-summer type vacation? :)

May is the best time to go!
Not too hot. Short lines :-)
I would be there but I have DS in school.
Will be spending month of June at WDW :-)

I think its a great time as well ... I've been to Disney in August and there is such a temperature difference. I also noticed the lines were shorter ... but the temperature makes such a big difference :p I found that I had more energy to walk around...

:p
We went last May, and it was awesome! Go early in May though, some schools get out early, and avoid the days before Memorial day, and the days after.
It got surprising hot though last May, about 90-95 degrees each day. Used fast pass and never waited in line, and stayed on-site at Universal, so of course no wait there.
Just listen to weather reports right before trip, and come pre-pared with sunscreen and water. We filled drinking containers with ice at our hotel so we had cool drinks all day and never felt the heat. Plus a lot of rides at Disney now que in air conditioning, if there is a short line.
We rode many rides over and over at all the Disney parks. Just be there at opening!(Space Mountain 7 timesin a row)
Have fun!

we are going may 3rd thru the 10th.
taking daughter out of school for a wk.
cant wait,,,sounds like we picked a good time.

I did the same thing as IowaGirl! I woke up 'late' one day and didn't get to MK until after 11:00 AM. There was no one in line for Space Mountain ... I went on five times in a row!! I don't remember being able to do that in August ... :p

I went in May about 2 years ago and it was great. No crowds, I think we only had to use FP 1 or 2 times. But boy, it was HOT, but not horrible. It's a great time to go!

We have been twice on mothers day weekend. No crowds, No lines easy to get Priority Seating at most restaurants. The Crystal Palace should be open again by then.

We usually head down on the Thurday evening and hit the Parks on Fri and Sat then hit universal on Sunday. Both times Universal was EMPTY on Mother's day.

Good Luck!!

So okay, tell me---just how bad is Memorial Day week? That is the only week that we can take vacation because of having to get back for some cheerleading and soccer camps that my daughter has for her high school in June. My oldest gets out of college on May 11 and the youngest on May 22, so we have to squeeze this in. Obviously, I know Memorial Day weekend will be bad, but if we avoid the parks that weekend and just hang around the house we're renting or go to the mall, will the rest of the week be better? We took the girls out of school in May once when they were younger and it was wonderful, but it was earlier in May. Also, for those of you who live down there, will we require pool heat for our pool home the last week in May?
