Is March busier than April?

We live in New England and our "spring break" is in mid April. I just saw that Southern California schools have spring break in March. I've been nervous about the crowds going in April? Is March actually busier?

The CA schools breaks are all totally different. Some in March, some in April, all different weeks. March and April tend to both be busy. Spring Break at DL is like a 6- to 8-week thing.

Are any weeks comparable to school vacation week in Disney World? Schools in the northeast get Presidents Day week off and many head to WDW which becomes one of the busiest weeks of the year. 2+ hour wait times. Does Disneyland get that bad in April? If so, does using Early Mornings and Maxpass help?

President's day is pretty bad at DL too. It was crazy crowded yesterday and today. Today fastpasses were all gone by 5pm. Monsters Inc, Cars, Guardians, Toy Story Midway Mania, Space, and Matterhorn, and Indy all reached the 2 hour mark today. Getting there early will for sure help. The one thing to take into account is ROTR. The lines to get into the parks have been very long due to everyone trying to get a boarding group. But once people disperse it's not so bad.

April crowds can be bad it just depends on when the spring breaks are. I do know last year in April there was also one super slow week.

Last year, Easter was late, so that made a difference. The holiday isn't quite so late this year, so the peak Spring Break crowds "should" be the week before and the week after the actual holiday. But, as everyone has already said, Spring Break at DLR covers March and April, about 6-8 weeks because there are so many school districts from so many states that affect the parks (e.g Southern and Northern CA, NV, AZ, UT, OR, WA). And the Food & Wine Festival will be going on in DCA during March and some of April, so that will make weekends a bit busier, too.

Here in San Diego it looks like most of our schools are out the week before Easter. We attend a private school and we get Easter break- so we are out 4/10-4/19.

Best thing to do is expect heavy crowds and plan accordingly. Getting there at park opening is always your best bet during busy times. Most people rush to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland at open, so if you head to New Orlean’s Square, Frontierland, Adventureland, and Critter Country in the morning you will be able to walk on many rides or have minimal waits. If you have MaxPass (I recommend it) then grab fast passes for space mountain and star tours later in the day. If you don’t have MaxPass, then send a runner for fast passes.
