Is Let the Magic Begin a must?

Hey all. Hoping for some opinions on this show. I'm working out the details for our trip in August, and am a little bit on the fence about making sure we catch the opening show at MK. This will be our 3rd trip in the last 4 years, and we've not yet managed to see this (although it was a different show for our first trip, but we didn't see that one either!)

I've become a fanatic (duh) and the completionist in me would really like to see this show at least once, but I am having a rough time justifying an early wake-up on either of our MK days to fit this in. I definitely CAN make it work, but do I need to? Is this absolutely worth the effort or am I being silly and doing this just to say I have done it??

If you were going to wake up early and arrive before rope drop, it should be for shorter attraction lines – NOT this show.

So, if you already aren't planning to be there early, the show alone is not worth a special trip.

We saw it for the first time in April and were all underwhelmed. We loved watching the show outside the gates with the train and the family of the day and then everyone was let into the park after that, because it felt like a true start to the day. This new show just seems less of a "fanfare" and since everyone is let into the park to wander around Main Street about an hour prior to the welcome show it doesn't have that same kind of feeling as the old show.

I absolutely think you can skip it unless you are already going to be arriving at the park in time for it and aren't concerned with positioning yourself right near a rope to get a head-of-the-pack start into a particular land. While we will probably always be at the park for rope drop, I don't think we'll ever worry about getting a prime spot for watching this welcome show in the future, personally. I definitely wouldn't go to the park early *just* for that.

I thought it was fun but we never go to THAT ride at rope drop so my positioning when they dropped the rope was not a concern.

I've seen it twice from horrible angles, as we're strictly rope drop ride people. It was nice, but no emotion or excitement really, just felt like a random show to kill the last three minutes before rope drop. If you don't plan on going to rope drop rides, don't bother. Sleep in the extra hour.

We're hard core WDW lovers, in fact we're here now. This is our 10th trip in the past 3 years or so. However, we've never seen this show and have no plans to. We don't do rope drop, we don't find it valuable. Plus we're on vacation, we have zero desire to wake up early...we do that at home.

Lots of fans put relatively uncommon things on their Disney must-do list. Whether it's "visit all four parks in one day" or "have a dessert in each country at Epcot" or "be on the monorail at sunset" etc..

As you can see, the welcome show at Magic Kingdom isn't an absolute for most. But if you're a Disney completest, then I suppose you might as well check it off your list... and if it's the excuse that gets you to rope drop and enjoy a Magic Kingdom morning, it's not the worst excuse to get up!

Thanks everyone. This has really been super helpful. I'm not going to stress about getting this done. If we can make it work, great, but I'm not tying myself in knots to do it. I'm sure my husband would like to thank you all for the extra rest!

Its not worth seeing if that's your only reason for getting up early.
Now perhaps the one at the train station I would have said was worth it.
I see the opening show every time because I like to get to the park for RD to take advantage of shorter lines.

Just do it.

I did it my last trip, but I'm a rope dropper. It's a short cute show, but it's not amazing have to be there. I'd do it just to say you did it.

Obviously, you don't HAVE TO....but can I just say that if I could start every day with a show like that....I think that would be great! Just Disney joy!

I agree with the others. If you are going to be there early for RD for the rides, its fun to watch. I would not get up early just to see the show. Its not that good.
I also prefer the previous one with all the characters on the train at the train station.
