E r staying at port Orleans in the princess suite room. Do u think it is worth surprising family with upgrade to monrail? Main reason thinking about it is easy to get to parks no bus. To get to and from with little ones 2 and 4. We r doing most of dinner like Mickey bfast. And bbq and 1900 grand fl. X2 etc.

Ty in advance.

We don't like the bus. I can take it now since I don't have a stroller child anymore (youngest will be 7 when we go next summer).

But being at the Poly made life with a stroller that much easier for us. We primarily do MK & Epcot so the monorail is the way to go.

Heck we have even avoided the bus from the studios & took the boat to Epcot, had lunch there & left for our mid day break.

So if you can swing it do it but if not, no biggie.

Oh & you will still have to take the bus to AK & the studios from the monorail resorts.

I really want to stay at the BC again but it is the bus ride & me missing the monorail, seeing the castle, listening to the MK sounds, etc...that won't let me book there.

Agree with PP, especially if you plan on spending a majority of your time at MK and eating at MK resorts.

We switched from CSR to the Poly back in 2007 and 5 trips later have never regretted the change. We are huge MK fans and it is such an easy trip. Doesn't hurt that we love both Kona and 'Ohana. Throw in a great pool and theming and I just figured out why we now go back every year.

With 2 little ones? as they say...priceless. ::yes::
When our kids were little (had 2 in strollers) - we always stayed at the Poly. MK was the Park we spent the most time at. There is nothing better than leaving the MK (after the fireworks or mid-day for nap break) and not having to take them out of their strollers from the time we left the Park until we stepped foot in our room.

If you can afford it and will spend most of your time at MK, then a monorail resort is a good option. Realize though that when the monorail goes down, transportation becomes a hassle. This happened to us twice last summer when staying at BLT.

We have enjoyed both the Values & Mods tremendously. This year will be our 1st deluxe stay @ SSR.[split w/ AOA ] I dream of staying @ the Poly. So someday we will, when we can. For our SSR & AOA stay we set aside some Resort time. If you plan to be in the parks the entire time I think the value or mod is great for that type of vacation. Just b/c paying all that $ for a place to sleep is sort of a waste to me. SO I say go for it but make sure you enjoy the amenities you are paying for. The monorail Resorts are IMO the BEST ones.
My favs 1. Polynesian
2.Contemporary
3. Grand Floridian

It's posts like this one that make me think that maybe the convenience factor is worth all the extra money.

I'm smitten by the idea of watching Wishes from the Poly beach or the TTC and simply rolling the kids (already into pajamas) back in the stroller to the room.

We once won a trip and were able to stay in the Contemporary. No trip will ever be the same since that for us as the cost makes it prohibitive.
If you can afford the additional cost, then don't hesitate!

Oh man. If I could afford it, it would be a total no brainer. I have always wanted to stay at a monorail resort!

We love being on the monorail and for us, it's definitely worth it. As others have said, if the extra cost is doable, I would upgrade (especially with 2 little ones).

We've done it with 2 in strollers at moderates. One thing to consider about POFQ is that there is only one bus stop. A plus is that you don't have to worry about a bus pulling up and being full because there were tons of folks at the previous stops in your resort. Conversely, you have to consider how far you're going to have to tote your sleeping kids after a long day at the park.

We had an awful experience with a bus driver when we had 2 big strollers. That ended us riding the bus for a while. As we drive to WDW, we just loaded up the van and drove to the parks. Reliable, dependable, and you know what schedule it is running on. Of course, there is that walk from the parking lot....

However, if you can afford a splurge, I would do it. I keep hoping to talk my family's CFO into doing a Deluxe once for many of the previously stated reasons (watching the fireworks from your room, shorter travels to parks, etc.)

I would check dates with Magical Vacations Travel... I got an agency exclusive for labor day weekend $159 a night at the Grand Floridian...

You never know, it might become more affordable than you think and make your decision much easier...

If its worth it??? I'll let you know after labor day.... pixiedust:

I've stayed Deluxe but not monorail in the past and would choose CSR over SSR or OKW as it felt more deluxe than those...

Ty for info I called Disney to check and was like 1500 more so we r thinking about it. Does seem to be a bit $$$$ to upgrade to pol. From port new Orleans high end. Or is it just me?

How many nights are you staying? I broke it down how much it would be nightly to upgrade to the Poly...and mentally that helped me make the decision! :goodvibes
