Is it worth paying extra for a water view at CSR?

We have been to WDW many times but this will be only our 3rd stay onsite. The last 2 times we stayed at POR and paid for a water view. The first time was nice, we had a nice view of a quiet pool. Last time though you kind of had to crane your neck to see the water.

This time we are staying at CSR for 7 nights in early March. The difference would be about $175 and I'm not sure it's worth it but on the other hand I would rather not look out over a parking lot!

I've always opted to save the money (or points) with one exception, it's such a great view high up in the Contemporary Tower! But then again, I never spend much time in my room!

Remember, that a moderate resort does not have it's own personal balcony. So really there is no privacy to gaze, if that is what you want to call it, at the water. Also there are no chairs outside the room to really enjoy the view.

We stayed at CBR last October and paid for waterview. After checking in we realized all that I mentioned above and wished we would have saved the money.

Now this trip we are staying at CSR the second portion of our stay. We booked a standard view. View shouldn't really matter at any of the moderate or value resorts. Only for deluxes. Of course this is just my opinion. :thumbsup2

If you do, request Cabanas. A few years ago we were assigned a room in Cabanas 9B, which we requested. It was perfect. But not ready. So this moron elected to go for the one that WAS ready. In Ranchos. With a view of the quiet pool. From the outside hallway. With a lovely telephone pole in the way, that looked about 3 feet wide.

IMO, yeah, it's worth it. :) CSR isn't like POR where you just see canals and have to look hard to see them. It is more of a lake and very pretty at that.

I like to wake up and see the water. In the afternoon/evening, you can pull a chair out onto the walkway and sit and look around. :)

I'm kind of big on views - they make my vacation better. I would NOT pay for the water view at POR again because there really isn't much of one. But I would at CSR.

I paid for a water view at CSR once. The window faced a rather long walkway that came directly towards the window. To see any water from the room you had to get right next to the window and hope no one was walking down the walkway! I wouldn't pay extra for that again! That room was in Cabanas 9B. I know there are lovely waterviews, but there aren't any guarantees you'll get one. I save the $$ and go with a standard view.
