I have long considered owning a few shares of Disney stock. My 40th b.day is coming up and I'm sure that people will be asking what I want. Do I want to ask for a few shares of stock? What are the benefits? Stockholder discounts on tickets?? Any other discounts? Thanks for any info...................P

I own a small amount of disney (DIS)
It is pretty low right now (under 25) They don't offer discounts to shareholders but they used to. It is an investment like any other. If the value increases then that is the main benefit. It pays low dividends. I just plan on hanging onto it for several years. It is invested for my kids college.
PS- Youshould ask for cash for your birthday and buy all the shares at once rather than getting 1 share from several people because there will be a fee on each transaction.

Wow....no stockholder perks at all??? What a rip-off! Maybe I will just ask for Disney Dollars for my b.day and hide them away for a future trip!.....................P

I also own Coke, Microsoft and Nextel- don't get any discounts from them either- never really thought about investing in stocks that way.

I have PECO (Philadelphia Electric Co) & Sunoco...they were my grandfather's investments if you can image....I'm sure he had made more than enough money off them but I certainly don't get discount ....boy I wish I could get a break on my electric bill and some cheaper gas!!
