Hi! Just wondering - would it be worth joining AAA for the sole purpose of hotel discounts onsite? It would cost me $53. Is there a limit to AAA rooms? I am looking for the 3rd week of January.

Thanks!

As we don't have AP's (thus no AP discount), we felt it was definitely worth the $50 to join AAA to save the $250 off our room. This savings was AFTER we deducted our membership fee. Plus, we had our card no longer than 2 months and the battery totally died in the car and needed towed. So, that in itself paid for it! Our AAA savings at WDW is for 8 nights.

If you are a member of Disney Club you have until the end of the year to get a discount on your AAA membership. I believe you get $10 off the regular price of membership. Also, you need a AAA membership per room you book. If you book 2 rooms you need 2 memberships.

AAA is very much worth the money. You will save much more than just Disney discounts.

Now see, I have AAA and we booked two rooms on one membership and got the same deal. It has been that way everytime I have went to WDW. I have never heard of the "one room per membership" thing.

But yes, it is worth the $50. We saved just this time around $175 per room with it!

I meant, does the hotel have only a certain # of rooms they can rent at the AAA price? Kinda like plane tickets with miles, only a few get to use them?

Thanks again!

What other Disney discounts do you get with AAA? We did not book through them but we do have a card.

Mom2Ben02 - Welcome to the boards!!!

I called a month before my stay to apply my AAA discount at CSR - 10%. I was able to apply the discount to a total of three rooms.

WDW will only give AAA discounts to so many rooms, however, I don't think "only a few" get to use them.

You can try getting the AAA discount applied before you actually get your AAA membership. When I asked for the discount, they did not ask for my AAA number - but I will need to present my card when I check in. However, some CMs ask for the card number at the time you ask for the discount. So I would suggest if you get one of them, just politely end the conversation and call back until you get a CM that does not ask for the number.

Or you could simply call CRO and ask if they have any AAA discounts available at the resort you want for the time you want. That will give you a good idea too. :p

Good Luck!

You do not need to book through AAA to get the discount. I booked through CRO at WDW & got the discount that way.

Most online travel agencies will apply the AAA discount as well to the resort. You can also use you AAA card in some restaurants in and around WDW for a discount. And, most importantly, you can't thank yourself enough for getting this card when your car breaks down!

Our AAA has a show your card and save program. Many businesses participate in it. I have gotten discounts at eyeglass places, restaurants, factory outlets. Well worth the price of admission. Check the website of the AAA you are thinking of joining.

other than room rates, however your aaa card gets you discounts on movie tickets, payless shoes, casual corner, restaruants all over the country (I always ask), hotels everywhere, towing of course, free travel guides, cheaper insurance rates, the list goes on and on and on. I rarely make it to disney and I always make up my AAA Plus (89/yr) in my discounts.

Before changing my ressie over to the FTP last July, I had originally booked the AAA discount for my room at YC concierge. The savings was $70/night. For a seven night stay that was $490. Definitely worth it. AAA also offers discounts all over Universal Studios, restaurants and shops.
